Regarding your first problem, are you trying the US version of the patch? Many people have received that same error message because many copies of D3 sold in the US were actually the Australian version. I'm not even sure why there are separate versions, as they don't seem to differ in anything but p...

Anybody heard from BlueFlames?
The entire PlanetDescent staff is in somewhat of a disarray because we haven't heard from BF for several days. I've sent him a couple of e-mails, but I'm still waiting for him to get back. Has anyone here been in recent contact with him or know where he is? We're going to start offering reward money...

wow, I've jsut never heard of that tradition before, half of my family is catholic. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it still seems a little morbid to me. ;) Are they 9 inch full blown nails? Or just a little paper decoration? It's really not much of a tradition. It's just an ornament that...

Be it hoax or not, that website just gives me the creeps. I sure hope it's a hoax, because I would find it truly sad to know there are people like that out there. Make a nail just like the ones used by the Romans to crucify Our Lord. A thought-provoking project that will impress upon your children t...

Great revival, Phaser! :D I had a fun time, as always. I really liked picking the levels as we went along; it made things less structured and more spontaneous. I'm not sure about having a revival every two weeks, though; it could be too much of a time commitment for some people. Heck, with a shared ...

To those arguing in favor of mass transit use, I agree that that is a very viable and favorable option, in urban areas that is. I live in the Philly suburbs, and the only mass transit around here is rail lines leading into Philly. In the 'burbs, you can't get anywhere without driving a car, not to m...

R.I.P. Veterans Stadium 1971-2004
Veterans Stadium was finally imploded this morning. That place held a lot of memories for the city of Philadelphia, one of the most poignant being Tug McGraw's World-Series-winning pitch in 1980. I've been down to the Vet many times, and I'll have to admit it was a little bittersweet watching it go....

What do you guys store on all that space? (Besides the obvious :P) I've got one 80GB hard drive, and I've only used about 20GB of it. A DVD writer, on the other hand.../me drools :P Seriously though, it depends on what you need. If you want massive storage space, go with the hard drive. If you want ...

You beat me index :P. Thank you, BD. It's about time people stopped accusing Bush of lying about WMDs and looked at the facts. The entire world thought that Saddam had the weapons. The UN, Germany, France, Russia...all of them. The US was simply enforcing a resolution that the UN had made some time ...

Probably because he deliberately killed an animal for no reason whatsoever in cold blood. As Meathead said, all of the animals you mentioned are used for agricultural purposes. Roadkill is accidental, often inavoidable death. However, at least on this continent, dogs are used for nothing but pets. N...

Meathead, your statement isn't entirely accurate. Science can also affect how people see the world. Take, for example, the proof of the heliocentric model of the solar system. That changed many people's views about the world and their place in it, and it may have also made some people question their...

Kevin just posted here on the 10th and said that he's continuing work. I have a pretty good feeling that we're finally going to see something happen .
Edit: Why exactly isn't HTML enabled on this board? I had to go look up the code, whereas I have the HTML link code memorized.

Three cheers for Sedna our 10th planet. Dedman, if you read further, Sedna's not classified as an official planet; it's a planetoid, which is another thing entirely. According to what I read, astronomers have no set definition of what a planet is, so there is some debate. Many agree, however, that ...
Actually, Kyouryuu, as long as you have a memory card, you can create and save an entirely custom controls profile. Mine may seem a little strange, but it works surprisingly well. I use the D-pad for pitch/turn (obviously :P) and O, X, Square, and Triangle for sliding up, down, left, and right. Movi...

That's not true, Duper. I've upgraded to 1.4 straight from 1.0 on several occasions, and I've never experienced any problems. As for Mercenary, I believe that it automatically installed the 1.3 patch, so it's best to install Mercenary and then upgrade to 1.4. Otherwise, you'll end up installing an o...

Punisher, I had a similar problem involving D3 stuttering every 5-10 seconds. It turns out that the cause was having 2 different joysticks installed at once, with 1 of them not connected. Getting rid of one of the installations solved the problem. I doubt that you have the same problem, but I though...

The Silmarillion isn't as coherent of a story as either The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. In fact, it's more of an historical epic than a single story. It includes many substories and characters over several hundred years. It is a truly amazing work, but I don't think there's any way it could be ...

I'm definitely with Lothar on this one. It may be difficult to make a transfer to alternative energy, but I think that it will happen without an abundance of chaos.
