you should even consider to replace radiuses with chamfers to reduce poly count, should this become a playable model.
otherwise, well done so far :)

bubba you don't want to argue with me over fly dirt, are you? the question discussed here is if the modeling actually supports n-sided polys, not how gfx cards or lowest level code handles it. have you ever worked with d3edit? if so, remember how to fix t-joints? that's where my example is aimed. al...

polygons are 3 sided.... what are you talking about? hiding faces? 1 faced polygon = 3 vertex 2 faced polygon = 4 vertex polygons have "many" sides, as the name indicates ("poly": greek for "many", "gon": greek for "angle"). a 3-vertex or 3-sided po...

woohoo, it works! :D turns out that my search routine was majorly flawed besides the above mentioned, which was not too obvious  but the nomenclature is inconsistent and thus misleading :/ (once it's .model_num, then it's .id) anyway, my guess is, that D3 loads the table completely, as a list ...

... You could try looking at the functions that manipulate tablefiles and see if you can find otherwise. thanks, i'll look into that. ok. i can switch polymodels for objects. but i can't find out the polymodel number of an (custom) object with no currently active instance in the level. there is an ugly workaround: to just put one instance of the object in the level outside, so that it's just there for reference, and/or destroy it ...
