Thanks Skyalmian. I just tried it and yeah only the terrain renders for me... heh heh. I was hoping wireframes would render in room view, but oh well. :(

D3Edit and Open-GL?

Am I imagining things, or did there used to be a command line you could use to set D3Edit in Open-GL mode? I seem to recall reading something about it a long time ago...

I was really hoping to upload today b...

Yeah I'm aware of the file size difference... Hopefully the file wont be too huge after lighting is done. There does seem to be a difference between lightmap spacing of 1 and 2. I've only really noticed it in the round rooms. The lighting seems to blend better in those areas. I could be wrong though.

I'm running the lighting on my laptop, it's gotta 2.2ghz P4 and 384mb ram. It's not too bad, but I have to keep a fan blowing on it constantly, because it gets hot! My other computer is a dual 450mhz Pentium 3, and it's just way too slow to run the lighting for this level. It's taking such a long ti...

I forgot to mention that I'm also relighting the terrain... I didn't really like how it was lighted in the previous version, so I'm relighting with high quality light settings (lightmap spacing of 1). I also relit the mine portion of the level... soo, everything is fixed, I'm just waiting for terrai...

Joining internal and external rooms

What is the proper way to join an internal room to an external room? The way I've always done it is to just attach all rooms and then later mark the rooms that are external with the external flag under the room properties menu. I've heard though, that this is not the way to do it, since it causes pr...

The download link was removed because there was a problem with the level. There was a problem with visibility, you could only see other players if you were in the same room with them... I'm pretty sure the problem is fixed now, I recalculated the BOA vis table and the problem disappeared. I still ne...

Hmm... I was thinking... wouldn't a sphere with lightmap faces act like a point light in D3? Fake point lights? That might be a better solution. Maybe use a transparant/pass-through texture for the lightmap? Hmm, I'll experiment a little with this tomorrow. ;)

Any particular light settings used to yield that effect? Well you need a powerful light. I just used a normal white lightmap and increased the multiplier from 1 to either 2 or 3. A custom lightmap would have been better... umm I also had lightmap spacing set to 2. I haven't tried anything over 2. I...

You could try lighting the back of the cross beams... the faces opposite the player.

The effect is there, but it's not perfect. (It looks way better in the screenshot.) You'll need to mess with the geometry and lighting a bit to get it looking right.

Well, I tried relighting with both Atan's version and the older beta 8 version... no luck. I tried recalculating terrain occlusion, and running with and without super detail... but nothing has worked. I can kind of hide this line if I use a darker texture for the terrain, but I like the snow! :(

hmm, hey that's moddable. :P The texture for lava is already modded to not set the players ship on fire... It wouldn't take much to make lighting adjustments. I agree that those lava tunnels would look a lot better if the lava wasn't so bright.
