I'm pretty sure that Vista has a poor implementation of OpenGL (though I haven't personally tested it), so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work well.

Diedel, if you ever want to try out soft shadows, This site seems to have a lot of information. It may also have info on efficient stencil shadows, but I haven't looked for it. Either way, I just thought I'd let you know, even if it is just for more information on shadow rendering in general.

I think the only way to fix that is to have the walls cast shadows as well, thus the respective lights will not shine through the walls. The shadows will still pass through, but no one will notice (Doom 3 did this).
