At a minimum, if you are willing to run the fix program in your Descent Version 1.5 directory, check the file size on the DESCENT.HOG file and let me know what it is, that would be helpful. The fix program takes less than a minute to run on a fast Pentium III system and several minutes to run on old...

Wanted: Beta Testers for D1 V. 1.5 Music Fix Patch
Recent posts on this board and at PlanetDescent suggest that there is enough demand to warrant development of a patch to fix the bug in the official Descent I Version 1.0=>1.5 patch which eliminates music after Level 7. I have created a 16-bit patch using Open Watcom Version 1.6, and it converts the...

Sorry to hear you have a bad copy of Descent 1.5. In order to download the copy of DESCENT.SNG at the 3D Realms Forums, you do have to be a registered user and logged in. I just tested the download, and it works fine. For better or for worse, you can't post downloadable material on this board, but s...

Dedman, I think one other point to consider in your deliberations is what your expectation is from daycare as opposed to school. Butcher,
Have a look at this thread.
You might do an MD5 or SHA256 checksum comparison on your DESCENT2.EXE file to see how it compares with the ones in the other post. It sounds like you have a version that is different from all three of mine based on the date on the DESCENT2.EXE file.

D1 Music Missing after Level 7
It seems to be pretty common knowledge that a \"bad\" D1 Version 1.5 patch was released at some point which made the music disappear after Level 7. So community sites have generally advocated updating from a Version 1.0 install to Version 1.4a and then installing a Version 1.4a=>Version 1....

It's amazing how the former Soviet republics can export so many grandmasters and they still have enough left over to clobber the rest of the world without too much difficulty.
