Back on topic... I find it amazing how people (both buyers and sellers) sometimes try to negotiate. Apparently they think that ridiculous offers and/or asking prices will tend to sway the final price their way, when it only serves to drive away the people they're working with. Ex: My neighbor ...

I can't take the quiz because some of the questions don't have the appropriate answers. For example, question #1 ... I believed that God created man through the process of evolution. How do I answer that one? I had the same problem with that question (among others). I finally decided that it was as...

there should be an adapter in the box. It depends on whether you got the USB-compatible version (unlike me, who got it before the USB version was released) or not. Take a look at this page and the serial number to see if it's the USB-compatible version. If it's not, take the other advice, and insta...

Unless you're the collector type, open it . It's basically a question of potential money vs. potential enjoyment - and with all the new features and graphic enhancements via D2X-W32, it's well worth going back to see. [Edit] Then again, your best option would be to leave that box pristine, and find ...

Thanks, guys! (Especially to RC and everybody who gave me useful tech advice.) :D As some of you found, I've got the server up and running (actually, I've got two up right now)... feel free to jump on and give me any feedback. Mostly, I'm just playing with the PPS and max players settings, to see wh...

Okay... it seems I'm a n00b at this, since I'm apparently having some firewall/router issues. To start, I launched a small Skybox server with Hunter's D3Server tool, and made sure I had all the right entries (as far as I know) in the .cfg files. Here's the thing: my game shows up on the PlanetDescen...

Re: Tax Manifesto rough draft
Not only will a white male pay more money in income tax than a black female, he will be giving away a higher percentage of his salary as well. At the very least, you need some clarification here. Because you neglected to mention anything about averages or exceptions, this phrase implies that a whit...

You only need one machine, you can have multiple servers running simultanousely. A D3 server on a 2.8GHz P4 running at 100Hz w/ 8 people in it eats maybe 15% CPU time (if at all). Wow, I didn't know that! :o I'll see how much bandwidth and processor time one server takes up, and I'll add more serve...

My favorite memory is from back in college during the very early days of Descent 1, wailing on all my friends in what seemed like a huge 4v4 game in one of the Minerva variations. :) I haven't been back in the game very long, so I don't have many truly shining moments... The only one I can think of ...

I'm thinking about hosting a dedicated server...
Hey, all. At least a few of you may know me, since I've been playing multiplayer for a few months now. I recently got a new machine and upgraded my broadband connection, so I'm thinking about hosting a dedicated D3 server. It's the least I can do to give a little back to the community. I just have a...

Who else thinks that this thread needs a Lothar or Drakona uber-post in the worst way? :P ...I propose a limit of one can of worms per thread. This is getting out of hand. I agree with both of you. I like the idea! Pilots flooding a tunnel with napalm, but their teammates getting through without a scratch always seemed a bit wrong. That TK punishment system seems good, although one or two quick mistakes with a mortar or trifusion can easily make for a high number of accidental TKs, so the &quo...

I'd try them for murder 1. Protecting property is not a reason to kill someone. Property is easily replaceable, whereas human lives are not. Agreed. ..."The neighborhood took care of itself." © Reuters 2005. All Rights Reserved. http://tinyurl.com/ayfk8 Hmmm. Multiple dead... chemical fi...

I think the Lynx is the cutest cat. Dig the hair coming out of their ears! Hey, I have hair coming out of my ears! :) Thats because you're a dang hobbit! :P Almost.
