You don't need a salary to make modders work. You need a compelling project and leadership that will get the job done. The vast majority of mods for other games are completely non-profit affairs. What makes a compelling project? Going well beyond a few silly weapon renders, for one. Anyone can model...

Interview with Parallax

An interesting find on YouTube. This is the start of an 8-part series featuring Mark Allender of Parallax. It was done before the release of Descent 2 in 1995 and talks about porting Descent to the Mac.

Rock Band 2 is the best of the two, by far. In addition to the 100 songs that come with the main game, you can actually import all of the songs from Rock Band 1 if you have that disk. DLC is also shared between the two games. GH:WT has some decent songs in it, but it's mostly packed with songs you'v...

I think you have to enable that through DALLAS scripting, but it's predicated on having first run a level to run that script. That is, level 1 can't have a ship selection, but level 2 can.

It's not the overall difficulty in question, it's using the right robot for the right job. You can't just place robots haphazardly into a level and think it's going to be the best possible placement. An abstract example is the way the M.A.X. robot is used in the Vertigo campaign. Parallax never stuc...

I'm not saying that the Descent franchise is any better, but an MMO seems so risky. The vast majority of MMOs fail within months. I'm afraid that even with the upcoming sequel, Fallout probably doesn't have the kind of name recognition it needs to catch on either.
