No, a just means everyone: user, group, and world. It's not a permission;
it tells chmod who to set permissions for. Doing chmod a+rwx is the
same as chmod ugo+rwx.

Unless you meant u+s (the setuid bit) you don't have to worry about it gaining root privilege without your knowledge. (flip: don't forget that one :)) The x bit just determines 'execute' permission, i.e. who can run the program. Remember, the file 'ownership' attribute normally only specifies who co...

Slightly OT ... but about a month ago I added an anaglyph stereo 3D mode to ProjectX (Forsaken source port) . The benefit is that you don't need any special (and windows-only iirc) nvidia driver or monitor refresh rate to make it work - it renders both red and green/blue/cyan every frame. http://fly...

Suggestion - make the PXO module compatible with current services/tools used for D3:
  • IRC for chat
  • d3.descent.cx (and maybe master.gamespy.com) for server/game tracking
  • d3stats.de for ranking
Then, the PXO module will be optional but still useful.

The Forsaken community got an email similar to this, and indeed
is also on the list.

Advertisement through forums and email, binaries only... I wouldn't
trust this one bit. Besides, the Descent community doesn't need to
be split up even further; Kali already took care of most of that.

Sounds like you need to compile using MinGW/MSYS instead.

Not sure what options you need to use to ensure binary compatibility
though (assuming you're still using msvc for the rest of your code).

Total Video Converter is just a rip-off of FFmpeg.

MPlayer also uses FFmpeg (legally), and it provides Windows
binaries in addition to source code/RPMs. How did you try to
compile FFmpeg anyway?

Yeah, Cedega is based on a very old Wine since they can't rip any code from
the newer, LGPL-licensed versions. I'd say let them die; Wine has gone a long
way since then and can now run many games with few or no problems.

As for Codeweavers - they rely on Wine and are funding development of it.

You can put in missiles to make it more interesting as long as you don't overdo it. 1 or 2 smart missiles and 2-3 single homing missiles scattered around the level should be fine, in addition to a few concs.
