psionik: Several places on your forum board by appearently staff labled CD as Beta, this is where I assumed it to be in Beta stage as there seems to be no official standpoint.

psionik: No. I can't understand why you guys think that. A game in it's Beta stage is supposed to be sellable as is but needs some polishing. If you're going to be labeling CD as Beta I will judge it accordingly.

NDA :) I know I'm an ass. To witness the concept of how people defend material things fascinates me. I'll see if I can get some stuff released to you guys. I stopped working with cartesian space programs so my mesh based models aren't miraculous. Diedel, though my points were harsh they are still tr...

Sheesh, everyone screams "Give us screen shots of the work in progress!!!", then when they get them, they scream "Ick! That looks like a work in progress!!!" Whoa buddy, I didn't say anything like that. I could care less if it was a full AAA, published title and not a single scr...

Are both of those for D3? I know the later one is and the initial one appears to be.

Personaly, I'm curious about the D2 .oof format.

I know the level is only beta, but that's still no reason to have such a shoddy scene. Don't get me wrong, I respect you and your team. However I'm just saying that everything needs a serious amount of work before it will start to impress me.

[truncated] It does not focus on "me too" engine fluff even though it has it but on solid competition grade gameplay. I am very confident in our ability to make sure everything goes together to create a GREAT game that all the pilots out there will love to play. I am a hardcore descenter ...

I'd like to add my insight on the screenshots. First off, Fire whoever is doing the lighting immediatly or hire someone that knows what they are doing. 90% of the detail in anything is the lighting and how it is managed. If you do not capture the proper scene lighting you will loose your entire ambi...

I do have to agree with simX. Just ripping models, textures and the like is really quite half assed. Plus his description of \"crayon\" fits really well too.

I think the rendering order for the forward view is all messed up. from what I see this is how it should be setup: Shield icons Energy Icons Primary/Secondary icons COCKPITB.tga Keys icons Bomb numeric Lock icon Afterburner icon (Button pad for D1 missions) Currently it appears that it's setup with ...

How you use shaders in a simple explaination is to create a reference from the model data. For example when loading the model: you load vertices, triangles, uvmaps, texture pointer, shader pointer (shader paramters, pointers). Something like in that order. Then you make sure you add the Cg libraries...

Diedel: I am learning Cg and HLSL, I don't think you would have to learn much regarding them, mostly implementation methods. My main concern is how to have a model surface in D2X-Xl point to the shader programs.

How may I provite merit for you?

Lots of good HLSL, GLSL and Cg articles.

Uhm, SnyTek was the only one out of line. He misread a post and that is all. I'm going to be seriously dissapointed in this community if people get their panties in a bunch over extreamly stupid ★■◆● like this. I use Lightwave 7.5 with Microwave. Does Milkshape3D have any kind of support for .oof? S...

Hey man, i'm just saying it's nice to have a headlight icon or something. Do you currently have someone to make high-res models? I might be able to whip some up but I don't know how to convert them to the Descent2 format. Edit: Do you have any plans to add shader support or at least specular/normal ...

Those two bugs seemed fairly insignificant to post logs, demos etc. Besides, they both occured at random, which I stated.

I do have another simple idea: Allow the Descent1 movies to be played from the menu like the Descent2 setup.

Note: I browsed through the thread briefly but if I am repeating someone please forgive me. Personaly, I would love to have a ship reset at the begining of a level as a level designer myself. Say for example I put the player into a position where the warp core can only transport the ship at minimal ...

Ok, you guys don't know who I am but I would like to add to the discussion. First off, this works. It it essentially a linear (straight) electric generator that uses three magents to play back and forth. It's also incredibly inefficiant and I highly doubt you would see alot of voltage and amperage o...

Hey guys, I used to be really active in the Planet Descent community (under wildcardboy), up until Descent 2 stopped working. Then someone on YTMND told me about D2X-XL and I haven't been able to stop playing since. The last time I checked the PD forums they seemed pretty stagnant but you guys here ...
