New mod XInstaReap - now available to everyone!

Hello pilots :) today I can happily announce that my new mod XInstaReap (eXtended InstaReap) is now stable and available for download! What is XInstaReap and how does it differ from InstaReap? XInstaReap is a further developed version of the original InstaReap mod. The following changes have been ap...

Must be something with the image - same problems here. However, if I convert the picture to e.g. PNG format, it works.

If I reduce the whole thing to...
<html>
<img src=\"images/ad_astra_02.gif\" />
</html>
...there is no picture!
If I use the PNG image, I can see it.

That's what makes software development so cool - you can always be proud of what you coded (which is one of the reasons why coding is my job today). This usually means that loading the mod failed. You either do not have a Linux compatible netgames/Anarchy.d3m file, or you forgot to copy the libdmfc.so.1.0 file to /usr/local/lib.

[Request for Kevin?] Fake or not?

I once downloaded some unofficial pictures of Descent3 before it was released and people were not sure whether they're original or fake. Today I'd like to know if D3 ever looked like this: http://intelcentino.in.funpic.de/upload/d3_menu.png Since Kevin worked for Outrage, he should know it. I just c...

Yes, keeping IRC would be the best since any other protocol would require a chat program running on every platform (which actually is a problem right now with Vortex, but at least you can use any IRC client on Linux or Mac).

Depends on what system the server is running (e.g. SuSE 10.2 or Debian Lenny or ...) - so please tell me. The point is, that the original Outrage Linux server isn't working on newer systems (always gets a reliable buffer overrun). Here's how you can check it: 1.) Download http://descent3.com/files/l...

Sure that works.

You must only run servers which use a correct checksum (such as Stadium, Halcyon, ...).

Test it out here: d3://85.25.136.157:2098

EDIT: When 1.5 comes out, there won't be any disadvantages.

Thanks! It actually works with both, but it's better to use the Linux CDs. Unfortunately you will have to wait for 1.5 before you can do anything with the installation - so you can just delete it if you like.

Which Linux are you running (distribution name and version)?

Introducing Descent3 installation program (TESTERS WANTED!)

As discussed in http://descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?t=16239&start=30 I am working on a program that can replace and extend the normal Descent3 setup program (setup.exe on your Descent3 CD-ROMs). This is needed since the normal installer doesn't work on Windows Vista / Windows 7 anymore. Some scre...

The racing mod will never be working, since its source is not open. I collected some sources of other mods people made, so now I have some working extra-mods for Linux, like Duel, Team Hoard, Team InstaReap, Frag Tag, Assault, BreakOut and Descentrix. Get them here for version 1.4: http://www.odf-on...
