Re: People wasting money on games. 60k and more

Since Steam launched; $1,214.45.

I'm not going to fret over it either, that's over 15 years of games at about $80/yr. That comes to just 1 or 2 new full price games a year. It's cool.

I was a lurker for a couple years, finally registering in the year leading up to Orbital's founding in 2001.

Looking for Wolf on Air

Has anyone seen him around? Perhaps has a recent email address for him? I'm not talked to him since 2017 via ICQ where he seems to still be online but never responds anymore. As far as I can tell from a deep webcrawl, he vanished from the Internet in late 2017, except to back Overload it seems.

Downloaded the demo this morning, feels good! I'm willing to call it D4. Took them long enough!

Ship feels a little...odd to the touch. Probably some ramping tweaking and I'll be fine.

Re: Not Descent

Well, from my point of view it is real, if rather buggy. I still have the rough alpha version of the game Orbital produced in 2002, but am not permitted to share. However, It wouldn't sell in today's market. Any published Descent IV would need a significantly different design than what we worked fro...

I've been extremely ill for the last few days, but I have received no communication from Descendant Studios in response to the message I was invited to send. I understand Descent isn't just any game...for pretty much everyone here. I mean, my god, we're STILL here hoping 16 years after D3 released? Yeah, I could contribute a not inconsequential sum, but all I've =seen= doesn't lend itself much to confidence in the project. Wow Lothar, that's one giant wall of text You found. It's also a good analysis of that which makes Descent great. Re: Questions about Descent: Underground?

Having been behind the last major attempt at a Descent game sanctioned by Interplay, I think I'll wait to be interested until there's a demo, at the minimum. There are a thousand ways this could go off wrong, and we've seen many of them. Don't think I'm bitter over D4 either, far from it in fact. Th...

Just thought I'd chime in and let you guys know... Interplay isn't the Interplay we grew up knowing. It's barely more than an IP holder for the company that owns it. If you want to find the guys who did make Interplay Great, i.e. Brian Fargo, look at InXile Games. Nearly all the old Interplay people...

Re: Quirks of Facebook (and google)

The reason is less honorable pages used to use frames to "hijack" a major page, like FB or Google and put ads around it. It was unethical, and a major legal issue. The ability to detect someone trying to do that was quickly added to the DOM, and rapidly adopted to prevent the problem.

I liked the opening, but as the song built, some of the choices made for a few specific instruments were less than ideal.
