Honestly, my only problems with D3 are the beginning of level 4 and the engine room in level 13.

Though for some reason the configuration refuses to stick on my Win10.

I've discovered that leaving "classic lighting" unchecked in DLE concentrates the lighting more around the sources rather than distributing it. Combine that with a lower "render distance", and you can get some good atmosphere.

Unless the transparency shows up in XL, it shouldn't show up at all. In all two Rebirth versions I've used, nothing has showed up transparent saved for specifically tagged cloaked walls.

Sadly those aren't MIDI format. Unless you're talking about the D1.5 add-on OST?

I'm going to go out on a limb and actually claim a level for once - specifically 39. At the moment I'm calling it Kryu'is Colony - but that is probably going to change.

I've always found it easiest to get a HOG editor and insert the SNG directly into the mission. This doesn't work in the original, however.

Since I tried the D1 level in D2X-R, I should have gotten a warning about an invalid format and went on my way rather than D2X simply closing.

Was this recorded in D2X-XL by any chance?

The logic behind "Metacave" is that it takes the traditional role of being the planet the mine is on (Lunar Outpost, Metacave Weapons Research), and I liked the texturing scheme - hence making a Metacave-textured level makes sense on the planet Metacave.

And I'll see what I can do about Coolyard.

Edit: Just discovered the analogy is broken, since you called it To Outerworld.

You don't have to use Smarts - it is just easier that way.
Plus you get more than a few of them throughout the level.

The TEW level is called To Overworld, not To Otherworld. If it helps, think Minecraft rather than Terraria Sequel.

I did want level 27 to be quite difficult - have your trigger finger on smart missiles at all times ;)

Did you notice my recreation of the D1-L27 boss' matcen AI in the D2FS-L27 boss fight?

As of yet, there is no ETR. We are currently 58.3% complete structurally - I'd estimate counting all the non-geometric things (robots/powerups, briefing, etc.) puts at a little above 50% complete.

If you can make a level better than most of mine, then your help would be appreciated.

This was designed for sequential play through each level, but i will keep that in mind next time I run through in DLE.

I don't personally run D3 on Linux, since I don't use Linux. However, I do know about the WINE project - it seems to work pretty well.

Thanks to a bug report someone PM'd me, I managed to fix two bugs in one - by correctly configuring the secret levels. Now the mission works in D2X-XL, and you can (read should be able to - not quite tested yet, but the technical side is there, goes for the first fix as well) play secret level 2 eve...

PIGs store quite a few BMPs...
You need another program to extract the BMPs. DTX works fine if your system is old enough to handle it.

Fixed SL1. Now it only activates when you enter from a select entrance that you will pass at least twice.

I was looking at the Rebirth code the other day, and found a chunk of code complete with the following comment: try dxx-r.sng - a songfile specifically for dxx which level authors CAN use (dxx does not care if descent.sng contains MP3/OGG/etc. as well) besides the normal descent.sng containing files...

I just left that part up to someone who knew what they were doing last time I did online coop (Sirius IIRC). If you play online, maybe find the local tech genius and convince them to set up the game. If you're playing locally then you shouldn't even need to worry about that. Just connect to the same...
