...um no. Level design in modern games is significantly different from what it was in D1 and D2. For one, it involves geometry more advanced than appears in a cardboard box. For another, it involves levels designed to look like they have a purpose - this was almost impossible in D1 and D2, and shoul...

CDN_Merlin wrote:One thing I'd suggest is not include a ship like the pheenix. The skippyness on the internet is just horrible.
Is that because there's something wrong with the Phoenix, or because D3's netcode is just useless?

All I want to see is the development staff with some breathing room... :) Make it a new game. Yes, take hints from the three Descents for gameplay, but leave a game that has a new and refreshing take on the idea. (Now I sound like some marketing guy...) I'd even be willing to get rid of shields in f...

Dedicated proxies are an easy way to fix Kali. Yet there doesn't seem to be any chance of them being set up any time soon.

I don't care if it's my router or not - if Kali is the only thing that can't be fixed on it, I won't touch it with a barge pole. I may as well go and play a game that works.

It's good to see that the third dimension hasn't been entirely forgotten. I'll keep my eye on it - but since there are still four more years of university left for me, I can't ask for a job in another country yet. :)

So the position of the wall effectively lays claim to once-Palestinian territory. It's better than Israel invading the entire country and disposing of them entirely. Facing facts, Israel doesn't particularly care where the UN thinks its borders should be. They've stopped where they have, that's the ...

The first Freespace, yes... The second Freespace... once someone explains the ending, maybe. It left me almost as lost as the third Matrix movie... Thats because they were going to do an expansion pack so they left a "cliffhanger" to make people want it. Does the expansion pack actually e...

WildWolf... now there's a name I haven't seen since... VolitionWatch actually, a few years back.

Anyway, is there any other system that is currently being used for D3 multiplayer, or is it pretty much up the creek without a paddle?

If you want to do serious modelling, don't bother with Bryce. It's a landscaping tool primarily. It also does okay with most buildings, but it's hopeless at organic and complex structures.

And don't anyone start getting defensive on me about this. PDers, don't take all this personally. It's an undisputable fact, in my mind, that such a main D3 site would be much better if it were run by die-hard Descenters. Is it? Or does this just leave too much scope for immature "Descent-is-b...

Not for me, thanks.

Performing calculations is acceptable. But I don't get any spam on my personal accounts, so it's simply not worth any money at all to me.

E-mail providers, on the other hand, will probably quite like the idea - if they get part of the fee.

Ah, the glories of living in another country. I can watch a base being established on the moon and not have to pay for it. Of course, there are probably more worthwhile things do to with the money, but I hear so much griping about that facet of space exploration that I'd rather "waste" it ...
