1) Get a better PSU, at least 430w.
2) RAM pick is questionable.
3) Definitely go with WD Raptor 74GB over that ordinary WD drive.
4) Integrated LAN is fine, but get a good sound card!

my thoughts so far. Th rest depends on the motherboard/cpu/overclockacbility u r gonna have.

lol, well at the end of this month the new generation of video cards is coming out, so you may want to consider that too

not really...people say XT bios gave them higher 3dmark scores, clock for clock, so you can try it if you want to, but make sure you get the right one, especially matching the ram on your videocard.

Make sure it's a 128MB version, if you only have 128MB of video ram.

not really, sapphire ships most new 9800s with r360 core, so does ATI. Don't know about others. I guess it's much cheaper to put r360 on all the cards, instead of keep producing both r350 and r360. Tedyy, i have ati cards in two of my systems, i do nto get stuttering in either one. One is AMD, the other one is Intel. I don't see why you get the stuttering, you are missing some tweak or some bios setting or something.

it can, there are BIOSes available for 128MB version of 9800 pro, however, they are sort of hacked, b/c ther aern't any 128MB XTs. But they do work fine thought. People report better overclocks and higher 3dmark scores. But, i would only suggest doing the flash if you know that you have the r360 cor...

he meant stuttering in opengl, ati's d3d drivers r supposed to be better than nvidia's, but nvidia's opengl drivers are better than ATI's.

as for the opengl, well, many people asked for AA support in 16 bit opengl, but ati did not do it, they still might, but no word on that.

put the good cooler on, 412/365 no artifacting, and the heatsink is warmish, not even hot yet...this core will do more than XT speeds, hehe, will get some ramsinks, and will push it further, but for now, i'll just flash it to the real XT bios

update: got my card last week, it worked for 5 minutes, then the screen went crazy, basically once it heated up, it went bad...i had to return it, newegg did a refund since they didn't have another refurb to exchange. it doesn't work 4 u maybe,i have no problems with the games i play. It's a descent bug that opengl doesn't work in 32bit, not ati's fault.

UT2004 runs awsome, so does everything half life based, so does woflenstein, so does halo, so does descent in d3d...what else do u want from them Teddy?

opengl is d3 runs in 16 bit, ati doesn't suport 16 bit antialiasing as far as i remember, that's why it works in d3d, but not in OGL in descent 3. As for teh gamma fix, i saw something at rage3d where you need to change a key in the registry to fix it, i am not sure if that's what you were asking ba...

SMP? or maybe HT? If so, welcome to the horror of creative's POS SMP drivers. Only way to fix this is to run d3 as a single-threaded process. I can tell you how to do that.

If you don't have SMP or P4 HT, then it's something else, but it should work fine.
