I dislike the newer Visual Studios for the same general reason. They're easier IF you learned on them..but if you learned on the old stuff..forget it.

I hate .NET too in general, makes porting a pain in the ass.

Proper OOP programming is easy once you learn the syntax. All a programming language is, is syntax and standard function (or in this case, class) libraries. Going from VB to C aught to be easy.

BTW, I feel your pain on the .NET issue. I use MS Visual Studio 6 for Windows dev. :P

Heh..I have a copy in storage, as well as the original D1 demo which only contained 3 levels, not 7.

Wish I still had my original Infinite abyss and Vertigo CDs though..they got damaged and I got the definitive edition to replace them. Oh well.

Suncho, look in the ui.c file..you'll find the thread starts from there. You aught to be able to trace most of the menu options from it.

I'd do it myself, but I'm busy with the resource file management code.

I think it's a checksum issue. If he compiled the code himself, or got a 3rd party compiled version, it's possible that the checksum doesn't match the general distribution version on your website. DL it and give it a 14 day tryout. It lacks a bunch of various features that I think it should have, but it takes the space adventure game to a really high level. The sheer economics and social models that have developed are astounding.

I agree wholeheartedly...so...D4 as a D2 TC anyone? :P j/k Though, with Diedel's work, especially in the realms of more cubes and really high Q textures and higher polycount, it may be possible to eventually...uhh..make a D3 TC of D2. :P We do after all know most/all of the D3 resource file formats....

Interplay held the copyrights for the D2 tracks, and I believe those are no longer valid. They fire off once, triggering something like a matcen only one time (3 robots). A normal trigger fires a matcen off every time you go through the triggering cube...quickly filling a room with bots.

I got the same effect in windowed mode. Switching while in windowed mode has no effect.
