I agree that Linux is not a competitor when it comes to desktop/client/consumer applications. However, I feel it excels with solid server applications; well known stuff like Apache, PHP, FTP, DHCP, email (Qmail/SpamAsassin), Perl/CGI, Java (e.g. Weblogic/Tomcat), etc, etc. I feel more safe running L...

And to think I'm a Linux advocate stuck in a Microsoft shop where management spends $900,000.00 on Commerce Server, which, alone, is costing the company a loss of $400,000.00 per year in opportunity revenue due to how badly it performs (random crashing, random lost sessions, half-baked clustering, e...

I went through 3 USB KVM switches. Each one killed off the keyboard repeat rate, making my keyboarding in D2 absolutely worthless... just a note. I got fed up with running back to the store and bought a PS2 KVM. I'm using a USB/PS2 without any problems. However, I have read that some mice won't work...

A KVM switch. I've been happy with Linksys and IOGEAR. You can also share your keyboard and mouse.

Microsoft Commerce Server?
Can anyone give me some feedback on Microsoft Commerce Server? Good or bad, doesn't matter, looking for unbiased opinions. And, additionally, has anyone had experience writing code for credit card validation though Cybersource or a similiar vendor? Doesn't matter what programming language, VB/C++/C#...

Raptor
Do Not get a Raptor. I did, big mistake - it died 32 days after I purchased it. Luckily the store manager was considerate and let me trade it for a different drive.
A co-worker also bought a Raptor - it died in 35 days.
They're too unstable. Personal experience talking here.

Smoothwall is a pre-setup linux router application. All you have to do is burn the ISO to CD, toss it in the system, boot from CD, and follow the setup instructions. When you're done, you can configure it through a web-based interface like most popular routers (Linksys, etc). I use it and it's grea...
