Re: Descent Inspired Shooter Live-Stream tonight
No, I mean there is no way currently to slide left and right. I can slide up with space and down with shift, but there is no left/right. It's like flying with an arm missing... As for the story, if it's an optional element, do you REALLY need it? Descent: mercenary that shoots robots and sterilizes ...

Not sure how I feel about installing something called "retrovirus" on my PC, but here goes... Cont: Ok, played the Alpha. I'm impressed, you've got a good tech demo here. However, as a Descent player. my gripes: 1. No horizontal sliding? 2. Unconfigurable controls? I don't want to play wit...

Re: Descent Inspired Shooter Live-Stream tonight
It looks...weird. Granted, 6DoF games always interest me, but it looks so weird in fact, that I don't think you're going to attract many buyers/players to your game. Nearly all of the Tron games, except the old Atari games, flopped pretty hard, Tron 2.0 barely managing to pull a profit. There's been...

Even better solution is my next project, using 3 HD projectors on an angled surface. /TT\ I've seen it done for in-home flight simulator cockpits and I'm curious to see how well it works for normal computing... I was wondering, might our wonderful and awesome site admin share with us some usage statistics? Re: nvidia 680 and 3 monitors
I bought 3x Dell 24" screens and removed their cases. I remounted them in their base casing and trimmed around the edges so that they'd fit together flush. Then I built a mount out of PVC tubing and mounted them to it with the 4-screw mount on the back of the original panel casings. Once mounte...

No line on Vertigo. There were too many people with the nick back in the day to figure out which one might be him and I don't remember his real name.
Narfig went over to the Into Cerebron project.

I don't really care enough at this point. As a Designer, Diablo III is horrible. It's the skinner box that was Diablo II amped up to over 9000%.
Looking forward to Mechwarrior online.

The game now sucks hard. Officially. You now have to spend all your time grinding gold so you can afford repairs when you go to try and progress.

Be sure to get a copy of Descent 1.0 for them to cut their teeth on that overpowered level 7 boss. They seriously nerfed it with the 1.4a patch.

No, I never did get the chance to do the other tracks. Also, it was pointed out to me that those D1 tracks in that pack I posted are rather left-biased for some reason. Perhaps the cable I used wasn't as good as it should have been. Anyway, DOSBox has a nice SB Pro OPL3 emulation mode where it uses ...

Lemme point out these, since they were somewhat buried in Planetdescent.com: http://www.dfiles.de/download/d1/misc/music/d1_re-recorded.zip They're labeled as awe32, but they're really OPL2. Got mislabeled. These are the real deal, not generated from loops or MIDI to MP3 converters. It's actual anal...

it feels so empty here now. Many of the forums haven't been posted to in half a year or more. It feels like even the community's work in extending Descent's life, and the experience, is over. I suppose we know what it feels like to belong to a WWII Veteran's club now. The war is long over, buddies v...

I'd highly recommend jumping off the Nvidia bandwagon and going for the Radeon HD 4800 series, minimum. You can get a 4850 1GB card for $150 or so. The drivers these days are lighter than Nvidia's, and the cards perform a fair bit better for the price, not to mention use less power, and thus generat...
