Re: Soft-body real-time game physics with cars

Heh yeah, the crash modelling in the GTA vid was terrible. Didn't relatively ancient games like Carmageddon (1997) have mesh deformation? It was crude sure, but it was something. I don't understand why things stagnated for so long. Mind you, i am certainly no expert, I barely play any games anymore....

Re: Soft-body real-time game physics with cars

A lot of driving games implement pretty good damage models and deformations into their engines, but during the process of licencing the intellectual property of the cars from the manufacturers they find there are stipulations from the marketing department. Such as: "You may not display our car ...

First guess is that it's malicious crap.

Or, perhaps the user named them that herself, she codes, and they are custom compiled programs, the programming environment putting them into the temp folder.

well this thread never really went anywhere. So i'll just shove whatever in here. This one is pretty far from INhuman, so doesn't really fit the original purpose of the thread, no - this prosthetic is quite human indeed. The arm is called the bebionic V3 , or bebionic 3 (by UK biomedical company RSL...

From what i understand, coz i've been assuming this is the same brain emulation team i've been hearing about months ago, is that OP's chip is specifically designed to run algorithms that are good-enough approximations of neural interconnectivity. Sounds like something from Romanticism, obsessed with death :P. Depends on how you define "people" i guess. Is a person merely a sum of their opinions? The same warm body lays next to you on the bed regardless, still feels the same. Anyway - the "person" you are right now, will n...

now that i think about it, i'm confused why it has a seperate GPU. Arn't all GPUs just ARMchips themselves? I thought the whole point of GPUs was to let modern chips get away from the x86 architecture, to strut their stuff as fast and energy efficient as possible. I mean... isn't a modern GPU merely...

It simulates 1 million silicon neurons. The human brain has ~ one hundred billion. So it needs to be only 1 hundred thousand times bigger, that's not bad TBH. There's already been talk of a billion neurons . We're getting there. From OP's article though: There are approximately 100 billion electrica...
