Between 4D rooms, enemy fire cannot really hit you crossing the overlapping space. Homings can track you, but they won't hit as well. This at least counts for the original game on the Rebirth versions. However there are other tricks and stuff how to mutate the level space... so I can't say when thes...

-nonicefps disables the game loop sleeping. Which means: While the game is *waiting* for the next frame to render it sits in a loop and constantly checks the time to see if enough has passed to render the next frame. To save a bit CPU power there's a sleeping call which let's the game *sleep* (and n...

It's also always helpful to try to use \"-nonicefps\" - this will use more CPU, but gernerally improves the performance on lower end systems. (However this may not help with the movies I think)

DXX-Rebirth v0.54 released

After 8 months of development, v0.54 is finally ready for release. And a lot has been done. Here is a very short list of changes: * Heavily improved multiplayer and new UDP/IP code * Demo recording now records way smaller demos (still backwards compatible) * PhysFS support for both D1X-Rebirth and D...

If you have timidity working, you could compile D1X-Rebirth with \"sdlmixer=1\" flag for SCons. Of course you need SDL_mixer installed for this, too. Then MIDI should play already, but it's not finished yet, so please do not expect it completly bug-free. :)

Sure - you can also implement a whole 3D engine into a text-processing program. The question is if it's the right approach - like Diedel said a new engine would probably be a better choice for that fancy effects. On the other side I still think effects like reflections look totally out of place in a...

Dunno if I forgot to update the README files, but you need to place them in a subdirectory called \"hires\" (/usr/local/share/games/d1x-rebirth/hires/) into your sharepath (not the home path - ~/.d1x-rebirth).
Then it should work just fine. :)

I disabled D2 Fusion from autoselect, in D1 Fusion is definitely an uber-weapon, but in D2 it is a totally useless nerf gun.
