This is all rather amusing. The US HAD to know Obama would try his best to disarm your military. At any rate, the news media has you Americans so focused on terrorists and terrorism that you forget your traditional adversaries. Remember North Korea? I hope so. They're trying to become the next COMMU...

You really need to try harder. Symbol replacement ciphers are ridiculously easy to solve. Took me about 30-40 minutes. Fourth word was my key: Keep out of reach of children under the age of five hundred. For best results, sacrifice a small mammal xanroc, then apply evenly to interior of eyeball. Wou...

Well, if you're already that far along, sounds like you already have what I have, you just need to dig into the files a bit more. As for how the client/server application worked, I haven't a clue. All I remember is that when you'd go to connect, you'd click a link on their website, it'd then downloa...
Tracker
I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to setup a tracker with the tracker.pl file included with D2X-XL.
If it's as simple as adding the script to the default runlevel and starting it as a service, I'll feel like a moron.

FINALLY. D2X-XL works at last. I found a hackable version of 158.24, and hacked in my device id as supported by the driver. It installed, and it worked. It still will lock and crash at the pilot selection screen, but only 1 in every 5-7 starts at least now. Aside from that, with .217 of D2X-XL, it w...

Re:
Cool info Halcyon. I don't suppose there is any chance of resurrecting that project? The powers that be aren't going to suddenly start co-operating I suppose. :( Not likely, not as we originally wanted at least. Perhaps someday I'll have time to get it back together and strip out the extra junk we'...

Since it's been repeatedly proven that the design is aerodynamically sound... someone (with more dough than me) should build a life size Pyro. Ah yes! The infinitely useless Nvidia driver's tool! They don't support the GO series chips at ALL in their driver releases. I have to use a hacked inf file to use the latest drivers. Else the setup program simply tells me that there are no updates for my card. Nvidia wants you to get support for la...

It's the same problem with any version of D2X-XL I can get my hands on, with or without d2x.ini. Laptop's video is GeForce 6150 GO, and I've tried drivers from several releases of this year. Using the absolute latest ones with any geforce 6 series updates in it is the only way I've managed to get pa...

I've been trying to get it functioning under Vista, 32-bit. No luck. It just keeps right on crashing right at or after the pilot selection screen. Also, before my driver update, the movies played fine..now they stutter terribly. Running Vista 32 bit with all updates and latest sound/video drivers. C...

You know..if it could be made to be a flying industrial center and launching platform, it could be used to build space structures in the atmosphere using conventional jet propulsion, and a lot less fuel to get it spaceborne once completed. You could even use them as something like a glider field is ...

Just take a break, Diedel. You've worked really hard on D2X-XL, and the shadowing stuff has frustrated you. Rob told me last night that shadowing is very likely the HARDEST thing to get working in game programming, and not to be discouraged. I'm online now at home on my own PC, I will pickup for the...

I no longer have the tools to do so, Diedel. I actually don't remember how. :P The original OOF that went into the level is on my PC, but as it's currently offline and not on hand to scavenge the hard drive from, I can't get at it for awhile. I could get it to you later once my own machine is back o...

Hmm..it seems that the unifieds are only for the newer family of sidew3inder devices..and the 3dpro is not \"certified\" as XP compatible.
Perhaps Diedel can add native sidewinder support to D2X-XL with THIS?

Glad you found a possible solution. I figured it'd be either setup a bit of a hack to use the existing mesh data with volumetric shadows, or use shadow maps. It's likely you'll find some of the similar issues with the D4 GX, as I told you yesterday, it wasn't really a final version and contained sev...

Thanks! I found my old castle's instructions and sent the link on to my brothers (15 and 16) who have all my old legos. Maybe they'll have a bit of fun trying to see if all the bits are still there to build it.
