I slightly disagree that both are 'classic'. DXX seems more 'classical' since Zico hasn't really altered the appearance of the original game, other than to add some transparencies and other small goodies. It still looks like the original basically, which is why I liked the game so much in the first...

DXX Rebirth and D2X-XL are seperate projects. i have tried opengl and direct3d. they both are 'jumpy'. i built my pc from scratch, btw. my card is an ati x800 xl, 256mb. Intel is crap. i would never waste even a penny on anything with intel in the name.

Using shader programs in Descent 1/2 is possible, but not with the Rebirth code base. A better approach would be to add an entirely new renderer as well as a modern physics and networking library. Do you plan on putting the fully detailed model in game? I hope so because it looks awesome. I also think it would be cool for D2 that the cockpit view was 3d, like d3 almost, instead of some 1996 bitmap that looks horrible.

It's not possible for D2X-XL because of the cube structure. You're correct on that; the engine depends on cubes. Do you have Descent 3? No Ferno, he was not right, and that was why he corrected himself. I only found the 2008 trial on the company's site, not the others, and it is not illegal to post previous ones for other people to use.

Diedel- I noticed that the monsterball functionality for multiplayer worked in version 1.9.257. When i try look for it in the multiplayer game setup menu, it is not there as a gametype, but only the config for it is. Have you dropped support for it or something?
