Windows XP 64bit and Ghost
I'm planning on doing my yearly hard drive format tonight. I just received my copy of Windows XP 64 bit as well (anybody else running it? how is it?). I was going to get everything installed and then ghost it so that I could do this much quicker next time. The problem is that I don't have a copy of ...

$150 is dirt cheap for a wedding. My parents used to do a lot of weddings (Dad's a pianist, Mom's a classical vocalist). They charge $400 for my Dad to do the music and my mom to sing a couple of songs. And they don't go to the rehearsal. $400 is cheap for a wedding. Consider the fact that somebody ...

Joystick Mod Question
One of the reasons that I quit playing D3 was the fact that I was wearing through hat switches in 4 weeks, then having to wait two weeks for a replacement (despite my replacement plan from Circuit City). So after getting bored with all the groundpounders and beating Freespace a few times, I figured ...

Very Slow CD Reading
I recently updated my BIOS and I've since found that my CD-ROM read speed is extremely slow. WMP can't even play a CD, and installing something from a CD takes forever and a day. Is there a BIOS setting that may have been changed? Specs: AMD Athlon 64 3000 Chaintech VNF3-250 1GB ADATA PC4000 RAM Win...

Funny thing is, SiSoft Sandra reported the same temperature just after I got it. I found it high, but it hadn't given me any problems, so I left it alone. Maybe its the wrong sensor... /me goes off to get box fan [Edit] OK, of the options that are listed for the sensor, I get the following temps: IT...

The machine has been stable at that speed for 6 months now. Its been through hours and hours of gaming and a couple of LANs. The reboots are a recent problem. Cooling shouldn't be an issue. I've got a Thermalright SLK948U model cooler on it, complete with Artic Silver 5 and a nice fan. The CPU Temp ...

I forgot to mention the RAM in the specs. Its 2x512MB PC4000 from Adata (500mhz). I had it running at 480mhz. I dropped it down to 470mhz (CPU is now 2350, and I dropped the CPU voltage down a notch to 1.525 volts) and it seems to be stable now. It seems kinda funny to be having problems like that a...

No, it does not reboot when not playing games. So it is probably something with the video card. The fan works fine (that was the first thing I checked). I did try turning fast writes off, but the problem still occurred (although that was several driver versions ago). When I installed the Omega drive...

Random Crashes and Reboots
I'm getting random crashes and reboots while playing games. The reboots occur while playing Doom 3 and I'm also getting crashes from Jedi Knight II. Both games have the latest patches. Here are the specs: AMD Athlon 64 3000 (@2400mhz) Chaintech VNF3-250 Mainboard ATI Radeon X800 Pro (at stock; lates...

Refresh Rate on Monitor
I have a Viewsonic P95f+ monitor. I was running at 1600x1200 @ 85hz. However, after I installed Windows XP SP2, I noticed that it won't do anything above 60hz. Should I use something like Reforce to get it back or is it different in the new service pack? Please help! My eyes are killing me! Edit: I ...

I recently got a webcam and I'm interested in the best way to do Video/Voice/Text communication over the net. The box says it works with MSN Messenger but I'm thinking that there's a better option somewhere (preferably free, of course). Any suggestions?

Like I said earlier, the temps are fine. The CPU heatsink stays warm, and the CPU is idling at a little over 40C. If I remember correctly, the BIOS listed the VCore as 1.62 or 1.63... although it should be 1.65. Edit: Ok, I tried running it with the VCore at 1.70V, and it rebooted even earlier into ...

Ok, ran the thing caseless on the floor under my ceiling fan. It ran UT2004 with some bots with no problems, but still rebooted during 3DMark03. Nothing in there is hot to the touch. The CPU heatsink is warm (idles at about 40C) and the video card is hardly warm at all. :: comes back to post a bit l...

Faulty Video Card?
I just built a new computer for a friend of mine, and I think there may be something wrong with the video card. It is freezing in UT2004 and rebooting in 3dmark03. VPU recover caught it once, but all the other times I've been resorting to the reset switch. Here are the specs: AMD Athlon XP 2500 Asus...

Ok, Vcore is now at 1.550V, and it ran Prime95 for 2 hours without a problem. Max temp was 52C according to MBM5 (I had to use the compensation to get it to read like the BIOS, I thought that kind of weird...) I'll get a benchmark after my friend plays some FarCry. 3Dmark03 2.0Ghz (Stock): 9287 2.2G...
