I know it's overexposed, but remember how much exposure time most telescopes use to make an image. Factor is some scattering from all the pollution and it's hardly fud. I can't see much in the way of stars around my area, and I'm in a smallish town. I can see the glow of Philadelphia 15 miles away....

That photograph is over exposed. I know that you need long exposures to capture images in space, but if I go stand on top of that hill, that's not what I'm going to see.
