AT1, whatever that is, has nothing to do with the MW4 mechs. Legal issues there stem from Battletech plagiarising designs in the 90s.

I'm actually a little surprised that the Marauder II was close enough to the original to warrant pulling out.

Many of those models are about due for a retcon anyhow. They've already given some of the models ex Battletech a facelift, so it's not out of the question.

Strangely enough it's only being held up by legal issues at this point.

Unseens are probably going to be culled from the initial release.

I get you regarding drawing on paper. It gets easier for the individual artist , but you can't just make a formula to draw a perfect face with no previous knowledge. However, a lot of 3D stuff you can just follow a sequence of button presses. I don't mind that. It saves time. Bryce has great glass m...

Making a planet only takes a couple hours, actually. Two or three textured spheres. DT's an outstanding artist. I don't know how much easier ZBrush makes the sculpting part of that; I've never used it myself but I've seen it used, and I get the impression you have to be good with clay to really work...

Players will figure that out via level editor, not actually playing it. There's a difference between fighting the level 24 boss underarmed and completing a puzzle of hundreds of thousands of combinations that requires no real engagement. One's difficult, the other's just pointlessly boring.

I'm using Maya these days, but I've used 3DS and Blender in past. Plus a handful of minor applications.

Blender's sculpt tool is pretty much a derivative of Maya's, which is itself an inferior version of ZBrush.

Nope. Mouselook gives you the ability to turn instantly like orbs could in earlier versions of Descent. It's in most normal first person shooters because slow turning there is unrealistic and bad for gameplay, but the idea of turning a vehicle around in a fraction of a second doesn't work so well.

There's no point in learning an obsolete editor to build levels for an old game. The best option is to use a newer version of D1X that'll work on recent operating systems to test, especially if trying to run it through D2X-XL gives you different lighting.
