The .plr file "patch" Jeff and I released was only to address the axis settings to get the twist on joysticks that support that functionality to work with D2x.

If the joystick isn't working at all then these player files have no bearing...sorry

All one would have to do is take out the cockpit. Regardless of auto-pilot it still takes pilots and the main instrumentation of the cockpit to control the plane. Without those you have no means of landing and a passenger plane out of control.
