Good point, Pumo. :) The \"I dislike D2X-XL because of its extra features\" argument has been pulverized since I have introduced the nostalgia and pure2D styles - which also pulverize the \"it takes ages to turn off all the extra features\" counter argument, because it only takes...

Ja, but I did shut up for a long time, and people kept getting at me, and it finally was enough. I also had no other place at that time. And finally is that mentality of just harrassing people for the fun of it so entirely alien to me that it is very hard to understand for me that there are people y...

Alternative? Alternative to what? You're talking bullcrap. You can have plain vanilla Descent 2 with D2X-XL as well, and if at some corner there is a flaw, people just have to tell me, and it will be ironed out. D2X-XL has a history of thousands of changes, and lots and lots of them have been made d...

Bubbalou, \"Other D2X projects will add hires texture support\"? Interesting to hear. And which would that be? There is only one coming to my mind, and to be honest: I will do everything I can to prevent stuff made for D2X-XL being ripped by that project, for two reasons: That project's ma...

Yes, it always was for everyone - for everyone using D2X-XL, because only D2X-XL allows to use hires textures. Of course you may be able use the textures elsewhere, but they were intended for D2X-XL, and Nova stated that when starting his project. So - apart from him being free to stay whereever he ...

Your speaking about D2X-XL levels being \"gimmick oriented\" shows how little you have understood both of D2X-XL's capabilities and of my post. All the features I have listed there are to serve one purpose: Create a dense, exciting atmosphere. They are means to an end, not the essence of a...

Call for D2X-XL level designers - veteran and novice alike!

I must admit that this thread looks like a competition to DarkFlameWolf's, and in some way it is, but not in a personal way. The idea to gather a team for building some great Descent levels is a good one (why didn't I have it myself? Oh, I didn't have time to think about something like that ...), bu...

You can't have a lot of cool D2X-XL effects in standard D2 levels, including static smoke (smoke coming from the geometry), and imvho you are pulling a lot of potential in a lackluster direction. There's tons of legacy missions out there, but few D2X-XL missions, and D2X-XL offers so much. Instead o...
