Re: Descent 1 1/2

Feel free to do secondary/tertiary mapping at any time - as long as you keep the files on Dropbox when you're done, I can work off that. I might take a look today at those weirder textures in level 22 and try to do something about them too. Guidebot is definitely a good idea, I failed to make it to ...

Aighty, the boards are back, time to wrap up Maximum. I was able to beat it all, somehow. The boards were down for a while but now they're luckily up again, so I can wrap this thing up. I have one on charon I think, but it doesn't need to stay. A quick question about secret level entrances. Can I put one in the level I'm making? Just in case that this level is the in right spot for an entrance, it is made ready to go. Holy moly, guess I went and beat Baloris as well! What an interesting system. While in Counterstrike most players consider Baloris Prime the "breather" system after Limefrost Spiral, in Maximum it's much harder than Limefrost all the way through. In fact it's been the hardest system so far...

Ok, in the meantime I made it through Limefrost. Can't say it was very hard overall, especially compared to Counterstrike. For bite-sized levels that Maximum is, though, gotta once again laud Dan Wentz for the design, these levels are really good. One thing to notice is that the texture choice gener...

Level 9: Brimspark ups the ante when it comes to level design quality immediately, you see it right away as level 9 starts, and it only gets better from there. There are three invulnerabilities in the level, one in the boss arena, one in the big room after the first blue door under the lava and in the room after the second blue door also under the lava. Bit of a shame that this open, multi-enemy dogfight style is not quite tenable in D2, seeing as how they can predict where you'll bee when they shoot, so at the very least simple circle-strafing doesn't cut it anymore. Since we have all the necessary assets now, Vignettes could easily be ported to D...

Beat the first two levels so far. I'm really liking this for a lot od reasons. Level 1 was a bit backtracky, but 2 didn't have this problem. The return of the exit sequence is nothing short of glorious - especially since if I'm not wrong, the functionality has been usable since forever.
