Yep.

Of course if he doesn't refund the money, that's interstate fraud...Which carries mandatory federal "pound me in the a$s" prison penalties.

That just really s#cks, I wasn't even going but I still think it just really s#cks. Califest is as much a part of Descent 3 as anything can possibly be. :(

To Everyone. Got this idea from a friend. lets see if it is feasable. Was wondering if there were someway that the D3 community could make a small donation in some form to The Rock, the amount of the deposit that he lost trying to set this up for us... show in someway how much we appreciate his efforts on trying to make Cali 2k4 a reallity. Maybe a little from here, a liitle from there, someway showing him how much he is apreciated.(sp?) :) Could be done as a PayPal setup, or something else. Ideas?

WA, I do participate in PXO, mainly in Rookie Area.
And I do have a PC dude. I use it for Glmax and TS. See my profile on its config. I also do have Mac app that lets me into chat.

Sorry Fusion, I was having a little fun @ your expense. There IS a lot that goes on in the lobby which you may miss even if you had access to chat, and until Grendel had pointed that out, I'd not thought of that particular angle.

Oh man I can't beleive it. That is so bogus. I was actually excited to set up the electrical. If they want an electrician report you can print out this reply. It will work now let us have the blasted room already.
Well I'm really sorry this went down. Much love to my brother Rock for the great lans in the past, and bringing such a great group of people together and just for being a great guy. D3 is a passion that cannot be replaced. It will always have a place in my heart along with all the pilots I've played with over the years. And I know it has a place in yours.

Umm and it might be nice to change the Califest Website to show that Califest has been cancelled...

Wouldn't it be kind of messed up if someone hadn't heard the word and paid for a Califest that had been cancelled since April?

Now, to get back to the topic of refunds: On April 2nd, the following was posted here in this forum:
The_Rock wrote: bro it's not even the money, I make enough money to take the loss. I mean i have two choices, one is I refund everyone. Or two, I postpone the event til sometime later this summer or fall. It's really all up to you. For those that think I'm a joke, or think I'm a flake. Whatever, I done stop caring what other people think a long time. All i can say, is in the past two years, the biggest and baddest LAN's where Califest LAN Parties.

In any case, depending on what the people want!! If ya'll want refunds I can do that, if ya'll want me to postpone to a later date. I WILL! You guys tell me, refund or postpone. If it's postponed, it will take me some time to find another venue. It wasn't the money War, never was. It was the place lying to me about the power.
Well, I e-mailed Dan a couple weeks ago requesting a refund. Here is his response:

Bro it has nothing to do with finding alternatives, this placed screwed me around. Now going to be legal matters, with our attorney because they wont give me back a refund. Basically putting me in rut, and all that money coming out of my pocket. You might want to try to throw a big lan, and then tell me how you feel after 2 years of successful events, then to get screwed by some stupid ass hotel manager. It doesnâ??t matter at this point, Iâ??m done with D3, and done throwing lan parties. In any case, Iâ??ll refund your fee ASAP.

Dan
Current Date is May 7th, I have yet to receive a refund. If it's not the money, as Dan said on April 2nd, I wonder what it is?

Why change the site now, eh Brian :)

To all of you that paid, good luck
To all of you that didn't, SMART!
To all of you that bought tickets... Well, I'll leave that alone as it's a sore spot for several of you.

To Dan. How about you sell all the stuff you have already recieved koolbear Jr, and send everyone's reg's back with that money since we all know you already spent the reg fee's.. Just a thought..

And since the hotel screwed you out of "all that money coming out of my pocket" that money, where is the reg fee's?

It is usually 20%-50% down for a normal room and the remainder due the night before the event. In bigger rooms the remainder is due 2 weeks prior, and large halls the remainder is due 1-2 months (non refundable). It's the time it takes the management to reserve that space again that determines the price and time frame of monies due

Stresstest,

What the f__k is this koolbear, Jr statement?

Stresstest, you haven't a clue and I don't appreciate your assumptions. Or assertions! Why slander me? I have done nothing but spend my hard earned money to keep Descent alive, and now I get punks like you slandering me!

Stesstest, who are you to bring up something that was false in the first place?

Dude, I have hosted Descent sites, orginized contest(s) and never for my gain. Hell I even went out and bought a 64 port hub for our lans. Out of my own pocket.

Man if you don't have a clue then don't put your foot in your mouth!

This is a case that you are WRONG, you have slandered me without proof or anything to sustantitate your claim, for that matter NO ONE ever came forth with anything that was verifiable. Kevin Lee was the one that took monies, he was the orginizer not me.

It's a damn good thing you aren't within arms reach, tell me what have you done to build Descent you little cheap ★■◆●, look you are a pissant moderator on a Board that I helped create.

If I was a taker like you there would never had been a DescentBB.net or a KoolBear.com, a Internet Descent Level Design Contest, a Descent 2 Demo Contest, many/many prizes were given out to lan parts I attended. When I went to the Uberfest I took prizes there too. Now tell me you little ★■◆● WHAT THE F__K HAVE YOU DONE for this community?

AM I PISSED you bet your ass I am!

And I never go around thrusting my chest out about what I have done for this community, but the help I give, the 3 lans I have thrown (That I lost a large amount on I might add) shuttle service to an airport two hours away in my car, my gas, paying for someones airline ticket just so they could make it, and the servers I host should easily disprove your "Taker" comment.

AM I LAUGHING? Your damn right I am.

Oh yea, the name calling? Childish, no?
And the arms reach thing? You want to hug my nutz?
