Or even: What would you use if it would work...

Please don't vote if you are not interested in playing anymore...

XP, because it's what I have. I wouldn't mind learning Linux someday, though.

(Not trying to be subtle with this poll, are you? :P)

Top Gun, what's holding you back from learning Linux? I've got some extra HDDs, how bout I ship you one (they're old, but I think they work) so you can setup a second HDD and dual-boot with Linux? That's how I started, and after I noticed the insane improvements I never went back.. :)

Besides the fact that every single program/game I use is for Windows, I just really don't have any need for it at this time. Plus, I'd rather learn the ins and outs of a PC before moving on to a different OS.

4 mac votes so far. if this were to "save" d3 on the pc there would be 200 pc votes already. 110 views and 20 votes, no one is voting because they all use windows and cant be bothered. Im not sure what this thread is going to prove other than peeps here are too lazy to vote.

LOL Voting is only one click and usually people like to vote. Whatever. The amount of views is because people are interested in watching the results. Thats all.

What this thread is going to prove?

I want to see how many "reasons" are here to keep the running system instead of changing to illegal / halfbaked.

Very true. With Windows you don't get that experience -- it breaks all by itself.

I used to play D3 on DOS 6.xx, but with the advent of the Start Button I was forced to upgrade to Windows XP Home Edition and forfeit 300fps. I was disappointed at first... but the Start Button...

I mostly play D3 in Linux. The way the ship moves in Linux is a little different than in windows and I must have gotten used to it therefore I prefer it. So I voted Linux. I do have Win XP installed with D3 on it but I only boot it when I want to play the levels that Linux players are excluded from (and that is a lot of them).

You would be suprized at how many linux copies/equivalants there are for your windows programs. Linux would also force you to learn the ins and outs of your PC, trust me.

Explorer always crashes on me if I click the "wrong" thing or do too many things at once. Annoys me enouph not to want to use it. Possibly SP2s fault? Who knows.

OT: Had the same problem after SP2. Cleaning the registry w/ RegSeeker eased it quite some, reinstalling XP w/ a streamlined SP2 got rid of it.

Well, it is very slight, and hard to explain. In Linux the ship turns a bit more snappy. Like you hardly move the stick and the ship turns fast. This used to really annoy me when I first started playing it under Linux but I must have gotten used to it because now it annoys me to play under windows. In windows it seems to have more of a gradual rate of turn, move the stick a little, turn a little, move the stick all the way, turn as fast as is possible. Again, it is very slight, but noticable.

Perhaps it's a different keyboard ramping setting (assuming keyboard use)?

I use Linux myself.

No, not the keyboard. I was talking about the joystick.

But I do know what you are talking about with the keyboard thing. When you hold the "forward" button down the ship stutters forward and moves slow, then fast, then slow, then fast and so on. I don't seem to be having that problem now thank goodness.

Yeah it was a messy solder job, but I really didn't need all those extra PCI slots anyway.

Played it in Win98SE, WinME, Win2K Pro, and now WinXP Pro. I got a significant performance boost switching from Win98 & FAT32 to Win2K & NTFS. Also noticed a slight performance increase from Win2k to WinXP. This held true for all of my games.

So, it's easy to say I prefer it on WinXP.

I use Linux also. Why because...well....it's better. It reminds me of something else I support. Libertarians. I keep hearing the same old mindset from people. I know it would be better if I used/supported Linux/Libertarians but I don't because it is not popular. Whatever happend to that pioneer spirit?

I got my wife to switch to Linux for something a simple as a better solitaire game :D

I remember my fps dropped considerably when I switched from Win98 SE to WinXP Pro.

On Win 98 I used to get 250-500 fps, on XP it went down to about 150-250
