Maybe a spanish translation for the new member JSOUL? He seems to need an assist from I see. Although some peeps are trying - two thumbs up on that one :)

This thread has been changed from a sticky to an announcement so that it will remain at top.

might be cool if you added the following information to the chat section because gamesurge is very hard to connect atm (at least for euros):

irc.gamesurge.net, port 6667, channel: #descent3
irc.descentforum.net, port 6667, channel: #descent

helpfull post pug!

Pardon the late posting but was scrolling thru DBB, wanted to add a little info for the Mac Pilots out there.

Mac D3 1.4.1 patch can be found here at my site. I have found Ircle to be a good Mac IRC app, easy to config. I use it in OSX, I believe there isa OS9 ver as well.

Just my 2 bits.

For Kquery to create a Descent3 1.5 filter

Click Filter, Add New Filter

Name D3 V1_5

Highlight this section

Code: Select all

result:=false;
      if ping<100 then result:=true;
And replace it with this

Code: Select all

if (
      (ping<100)
      and (getRuleString('gamever')='Retail 1.5.0')
      )
     then
      result:=true
     else
      result:=false;
Adjust the ping to your preference

good idea Woodi. at the time I wanted people to see the thread as there were questions of legality. that has become a moot point so I edited the original post with the direct link.

Anyone have this problem with Vortex?

I unzip it and run the exe. It tells me I need to update. I run the update, it tells me that the only version out there is the one I'm running. So I ignore it and Vortex shuts down. So I download the latest version from the Slyclan website, same damn version. :
I love that little program but right now, if it was a physical object, I would kick it.

Old time Descenter stopping in to say HI. Found my Descent3 CDs in storage and dug them out. Grabbed the v1.4 patch and maybe one of these days I'll get around to installing it and giving it a go again. So many fond memories... :D

Koolbear's website koolbear.com has a stash of levels as well. However I have found a few levels that are on the tracker(or whatever you use to get into the servers) that aren't @ PD.

Also if you get Vortex (http://www.slyclan.de) you can automatically download the levels when joining the servers.

That would most likely be because I haven't gotten around to uploading them yet. :P Anything that's been recently released should get up there over the next week or so, schoolwork willing.

Since the link that leads to patch 1.5 info is no longer functioning. What exactly did patch 1.5 bring to Descent 3?

Kquery

Posted: Mon Dec 04, 2006 9:18 pm
by shadow-rider
I tried setting up Kquery per posted instructions without success. When I get to the games list, the Descent 3 listing has a \"gslist\" noted with it that, when clicked on, gets me the error message that this doesn't exist or is incorrect. I have tried everything that I can think of to correct this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Extract gslist.exe from http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/gslist.zip and copy it to \"C:\\Program Files\\coldstorage\\kquery4\". Note that the archive contains subdirectories that you don't want in the kquery folder !

Kali is your best bet. http://www.kali.net there is a free trial that kicks you off every 15 minutes I think still. You should just buy it for 20 bones.

So are people still mostly using kquery, or rather that old descent.cx tracker?

I haven't played since before PxO went down, i'm amazed the community is still somewhat alive :)
