Unreachable Double Exit-Cube in D2, Secret 1 \"Segment

In Descent II´s 1st Secret Level \"Segment City\" I just found a double Exit-Cube:

The level has 4 exit-cubes that return you to the normal level you came from:
- behind the first door from starting point
- at the very far end of the level
- at the top of the reactor room
- and in the room opposite of the reactor room

The last one is a cube in the ceiling of the room. And above it there is yet another exit-cube.
(you can see it when using the Full-Map-Cheat)

Since the cube in question lies beyond the exit-cube one could never ever enter it :-(

I opened the level in \"Descent Level Editor XP\" but - to be honest - I couldn´t find what the surplus cube does.
For reference: it is Cube No. 20 (beyond Cube No. 21)

Does anyone know what this cube is / does / means?
Is there a way to reach it? (Guided Missiles don´t seem to work)
Is this a super-ultra-secret?
Or just an artefact from an earlier design-stage?

Thanks in advance!

I remember something like that in a Vertigo secret level as well. Just a level design artefact I'd say.

yeah. You need the cube behind the door (or in this case a portal even though it's a door in the editor) to be able to place a door. You can't really put a door on a wall and it goes nowhere.

Sometime the automap will render that cube and sometimes it won't. I'm unsure of the reason why.

Something Brizzna's Ice Palace I think. Vertigo secret level 2 or 3.

I left an artefact in one of my levels in TEW as well, just for the hell of it. It's supposed to look like a secret area you can't access until you check it out in a mission editor for the sign I popped in there. Hehe.

@DarkHorse, DarkFlameWolf & Sirius (etc.):

Even as I wanted to \"just\" test the current D2X-XL \"a bit\", I now find myself playing TEW.

Thank you very, very much indeed!
It´s hard to express what your work means to me.

Descent rules. D2X-XL rules. And you rule, too.

That had to be said :-)

Thanks. It was fun to make something that pushed Descent 2 about as far as it could go, too. :) (Short of D2X-XL features, which nobody has taken advantage of the full potential of yet, although Pumo's current project comes about as close as anything.)
