I was really wondering about this because stuff as far as descent is going seems to kind of be fizziling down and just losing its popularity. Does anyone know if there will EVER be another Descent game being made and does anyone know if theyre ever gonna make the Descent movie I heard about a while back? Also I feel kinda bad that I can no longer go to that Blasternet site for D3 with all the cool walkthroughs with all the neat screenshots on it. Does it even still exist anymore or did it move or is it just not there anymore, cuz that kinda sucks, I also miss the pyro..... whatever that site was called with all the bots and info on the descent ships and stuff on it. Just lemme know whats up with all of this alright, thanks.

No new Descent games.
No Descent movies.
The final D3 patch (1.5) will be coming out soon.
The community will hopefully be given control of PXO.
D3 will die.

Moon's Descendarium is the site for Descent walkthroughs/tutorials.

I always found the Descent movie concept intriguing. I wrote a short script and a bunch of various ideas about casting, music, and other stuff for a Descent film years ago, but none of it would ever get past a producer's desk. I remember back last year Crack, myself, and few others spent a nice long evening talking about how cool a Descent movie would be, as well as a bunch of details for it. Good times.

I'm not sure how cool you could make it. Descent is a very visceral experience. I just don't think you could capture that feeling in anything over than a video game.

To save money and still put everything in the movie that it would need to be a really killer flick, it could be made like the final fantasy movie, all animated. All you would need is voice actors. Even then, you wouldn't need too many. I will throw my chance in the ring, I want to be dravis, hehehe.

Now that you mention it, David Warner would make a good Dravis, simply shave his head and its settled. lol As for the flick, I disagree with it being all animated like Spirits Within. I know the arguement is that you can do so much more, but I'd rather have a live flesh and blood movie for Descent. And frankly, if such a Descent movie should be made, the plot should contain only a few action sequences and at least one first person flying sequence through a mine with robots.

As far as I'm concerned, David Warner is Dravis. Aside from the fact that he has that cocky British accent down perfectly, he even played an evil CEO in Tron. As Bruce Willis could be the MD. He flew that flying taxi in the Fifth Element rather well, and he looks like a miner. :D

My concern about a Descent movie would be how one could actually make it exciting for two hours. I think that Peter Telep, in his Descent books, did it right by containing the action (of the first book) in the Lunar Outpost, instead of flip-flopping from one colony to the next.

Rather than having an outsider try to enter the mine and rescue those inside, it makes more sense to start from within. A bunch of scientists and miners overseeing the robots. Perhaps one of them notices some anomalies (those damn anomalies... gets the Enterprise every time :D), but is assured by Post-Terran that it is nothing out of the ordinary. And then we have the proverbial "all hell breaking loose" as the robots become infected. And we designate a group of survivors from the incident who try to make their way out alive. They try to contact the CED, who in their bureaucratic way would be apt to nuke the base to contain the virus. They uncover that Dravis was the one who unleashed the virus because the mining operation was losing money. And they eventually make their way to the fighter dock where they board a Pyro (or several Pyros) and navigate out of the mine, right before the CED comes in with the nukes.

Or, you could have them try to detonate the Reactor from afar. I was thinking maybe the "impending attack" of the CED would serve as a countdown catalyst.

For the sake of game continuity, Dravis should probably get away unscathed and the incident kept secret.

The fact that David Warner did the voice of Dravis might also help. ;)

George Del Hoyo would not make a good MD, however. I'd miss his voice though ("Yeah I couldn't care less if they sued me...").
