Descent IV, A Prequel?

According to Wikipedia, Descent IV was supposed to be a prequel to the Descent series, not a sequel to Descent 3 as I have always thought. Was this true? If so, it adds a whole new dynamic to the title, The Invasion, which Planet Descent talked about. Descent never mentioned an invasion happening before the age robots replaced the workforce. I'm guessing this must be a typo because I saw Descent IV as an invasion by the aliens who infected PTMC mines in Descent and now just realized that their virus was conquered.

Nope, that's not a typo. D4 WAS to be a prequel. If you remember the MD's briefing with Dravis in D1, he mentions helping \"put down\" an uprising on Mars in a mercenary roll.

I remember reading about this on the Volition site years ago.

I believe the \"Invasion\" line was created by the 3rd party creators at ODN or whatever, and that since I remember it saying it would have all the weapons from D3 except for like two, that makes their version sound like a sequel.

I think Interplay in itself was to create a Prequel, but I do not remember them saying anything about an invasion.

Correct me if I am wrong though
