Glowing/lit textures?

Post by []V[]essenjah »

How do you make a texture glow or light up? I have created a new burn mark for energy weapons, but I can't get it to glow.

Depends on what you mean by glow.

Descent 3 uses dynamic lighting on weapon fire to produce light effects. The rest of the lighting is baked into the world. As such, a decal can't produce light.

But as far as emissive textures go, I don't believe Descent 3 supports them. Emissive mapping is relatively new to game engines. With emissive mapping, you can make surfaces appear to glow and bloom.

What I need is the texture to appear to be lit the same way all the time. Not effected by the dynamic lighting.

So, what your getting at, is that this texture will only conform too the lighting of the surface it is on I take it?

I don't think I know this well enough to answer your question.

You mean you just want a light texture? I think you do that through a table file. any lit face, even if it's a light texture will be effected by dynamic lighting if the other source is stronger.
