I see that this descent community is very active here, and i search player for online game.
I have found a new application in order to host and join Descent 3's game. Its name is GameRanger and it is free. You can download it here :

http://www.gameranger.com/

It search atomticaly the game that you have on you PC and you just need to join a game room.
I try to keep a Descent 3: Mercenary room open when i can so come in and enjoy !

I would recommend you to use Vortex instead:

http://www.slyclan.de/

It's a client that tracks online D3 games and includes a chat room! :)
Also note this program is specifically designed for Descent 3 8)

And unlike Kali, it's free! (and you'll find a lot of ppl there)

Nice ad :-/

Vortex will display servers listed on several trackers and not just one.

Mission and Mod downloading (and auto installation) included. Commandline switch editor and even a D3 cleanup tool are all integrated.

The two well frequented IRC chat rooms are configured by default.

The way I see it: GameRanger does not offer any support for listing Gamespy or Descent.cx games and chat is not linked to our chats either. So there is absolutely no reason why a player should lurk around there at all.

But we already mentioned this to Scot Kevill and as far as I know nothing has changed.

Unless GameRanger games are listed on Gamespy or better descent.cx there is no life for D3 @ GR

Only some of the Mercenary levels can be played in co-op at all. I think at least two of them won't work properly, but I'm not sure right now about the exact amount.

Anyway, if you want to host games, this is the place to go as long as you have a dedicated machine: http://www-user.uni-bremen.de/~baedeker/
It covers both, Gamespy and the tracker.

No need for some GameRanger that doesn't support the existing ones.

If you have network issues or want to host servers from inside the game, this here may help:
