Lost Multiplayer Maps

Post by NukeBlast »

I've recently re-installed Descent II with the corresponding D2X-XL and 1.2 patch. When loading the multiplayer portion with my roommate, we've noticed that the maps we used to play on are no longer there.

We were pretty sure it was part of the Pandemonium multiplayer map pack, but the included Pandemonium maps are completely wrong.

Whatever the name of the map pack, the first level took place inside a volcano, and the 2nd level was titled Jalapeno. I've scoured the internet, but can not find any mention of these particular maps or .hog files.

Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about, or where I can find these maps?

Thanks in advance,
NukeBlast

I know the first map on the Descent 1 Total Chaos level pack is in a volcano. Is that what you are talking about?
Why doesn't it work?

Total Chaos (multiplayer set included with standard Descent 1 install):
Level 1: Mount Slagel (volcano level)
Level 2: Jalapeno (big lava room underneath, bunch of tunnels at the top)
Level 3: Death from Above (large, open level, mostly)
Level 4: The Southern Cross (name gives it away)
Level 5: Bushwackers' Paradise (not to be confused with the BSW-L1... :) Relatively complicated, multi-layered level)

Pandemonium is chaosd2.hog, from memory, whereas Total Chaos is chaos.hog. It's basically the D2 successor to the original, but the levels and weapons ARE different.

If you have the original D1 CD or disks, it should be fairly easy to find this mission there.

That's a pretty good one Sirius.
That level is really tricky, tried it before, but not with multiple players.

YES! This is exactly what I'm looking for. A Descent II remake of the Total Chaos map pack.

Would anyone know where to find this? I recall that it had all of the D2 weapons and upgrades in it.

Thanks again,

Found

My roommate actually recovered the .hog from an old scratched up CD he found of his backed up files in '97.

If anyone would like these maps, let me know a place where I can upload them, and I'll post the link.

Thanks for all of the help.
