 Post subject: Apparition no terrain

This is a great idea, but without the outside ear, you lose 3 vital powerups:
the vauss ammo
the md ammo
the black shark

They wont respawn in the lvl without first being grabbed...so they need to be put in the lvl somewhere accessible.

can someone create a no terrain version of appa with these 3 powerups replaced with something else in the lvl?

yes, the lvl \"apparition no terrain\" was made, but there is a problem with this lvl...it has no md ammo, no vauss ammo, no black shark (because they are in the towers in the outside area).

So I'm saying that another lvl needs to be made with these powerups in the playable area.

@Darkhorse: I used to think the black shark was not a good missile, but recently with the lack of decent pilots and the prevalence of missile boaters, it's VERY important. I'm happy to avoid that missile if it means more people will play a lvl other than Subway Dancer.
It's actually FUN! It changed the 50k tourny outcome (I was there to see it), and it's a good option for games today.

The reason why they were left out was balance. Apparition isn't horribly huge without the terrain.

While respect your idea of fun; I just want to point out that this level was designed in a different age of game playing. Games have changed a good deal in 8 years. Balance, skill and luck are all perceived a bit differently \"nowadays\" respectively.

Really though, taking the existing port and adding a few powerups would take what.. 10 minutes? Tops?

perhaps I could petition someone to spend 10 minutes to rectify this heinous oversight in the apparition no terrain lvl....

have to X2 that. Thus my reference to balance. The MD is over powered and was Outrages answer to Quake's railgun. .. and to quell some complaints in the community back in the day during development.

....this isnt a debate on whether it belongs in the game or not. Rather it's about what was originally designed and played. This lvl (not all others...in fact perhaps only a few others) needs those 3 weapons/upgrades.

How many other lvls that shipped with the game have the black shark in it?
I'd rather see people playing this lvl as opposed to subway dancer...and I think the blackshark would make them play it.

That level was originally designed to have outdoors. It doesn't need any of those three without them. Or even with them.

Ready, go grab a copy of the editor and read through a tutorial or 2 and you're set.

It's not nearly as involved as scripting.

yeah...

Duper, I'm not that interested. Actually, I was trying to do my bit for the community. It's unconscionable that so many would play subway dancer. I'm assuming its partly for the missiles...so if these pilots would play some appa, and have some fun with the black shark, then they'd at least be in a lvl that's interesting and somewhat challenging.
I thought that the absence of the outside was a good idea for the noobs...less complicated, and more inviting.
