New D1 Singleplayer level -- The Violet Caves

My first finished D1 level. Kind of in the style of Descent Vignettes, I followed most of DarkFlameWolf's instructions for Vignettes when I built it despite not building it for the mission.

EDIT: I've updated it with different music (it seems I shoudln't have been using the original song even though I wrote it... -- it has to do with Descent WiiWare) but the new music should be a treat to D1 fans :cough: XFING :cough:. It's still fully synthesized ogg tracks, at least I didn't have to revert to midi. However, if you really want to play it in DOS Descent despite the eye-killing framerate there's also some original midi tracks in there too now -- a midi version of this song: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... D=11431327, and a different song for FM soundness.

And last but not least I've added a couple more secrets and it's now co-op compatible!

More general information about the level:
Game: D1
Modes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singleplayer: Yes
Coop: Yes
Anarchy: No
Size: Rather large, over 700 cubes, though much of that is detail.
Map Theme: Blue and purple alien caves, if you can call that a theme.
Custom textures: No
Custom robots: No, unless you play it with Wolfie's TEW mod in D2X-XL
Custom music: Yes, and the ogg music now works in both D1X Rebirth and D2X-XL (the ogg song has been changed but D1 fans will be happier). There is also an original midi song and a different original FM midi if you really want to play it in DOS Descent.

Blargh... It looks like DMDB is having upload problems. I'm going to change the link to mediafire until I can convince someone else to host it.

I really enjoyed it. I think it's on par with the Paralax ones, so you should feel satisfied with your work. I died twice, and once was in the reactor room. I lost all my power-ups, but when I went back to get them I accidentally triggered the reactor and had to gtfo. I was sad there was no next level to jump to, but also relieved since I lost all my loot. :P

Looks stunning... I'ma give it a shot when I get some free time.

Which reminds me - I gotta get a grip and resume work on Descent 1 and a half :<

I believe I managed to get it onto DMDB months ago, hence the removal of the mediafire link from my previous post.
If not, I should still have it...
