Sure was great getting your email the other day!

96 was the year I first joined kali, though my first games on it were via Warcraft II. Descent followed soon afterwards.

Good call Sirian, 10 years ...

I'm suddenly suffering from kali withdraw.

*nods and smiles, unwittingly drifting into the line of fusion fire as he reminisces*

Old Descenters never die. They just moth into new challenges.

Hmm. People I haven't seen anywhere in a while.

Let's see.

Nailz (oddly enough)
kryat
Ender
Spaz
Satan/Spread-<xx>
Karash
RedDawn
Kruel (I'm sure he wouldn't be as hard to find though)
sfuzzi
Jediluke (I think)
ZappaFan (again, probably not hard to track down)
GipsonCoil
SoniC

Yeah, still a few guys that sort of just disappeared.

Heh... There's a lot of pilots I remember playing that aren't around anymore. Used to play Smokin' quite a bit back when shaker levels were popular and before I joined the Rangers. Ah, the good ol' days. :P

Oneye! I'm so glad you stopped in to say hi. .)

Catch22, I didn't get to know well until 97, when we met at a LAN. (Sat in the same corner of the room, though different tables). Grax was at my table then, too, and he and I have stayed in touch privately. I have not seen anything of Redlion in several years, though.

I am on Kali a fair bit, actually; just the wrong servers.

Hello all

Wow, it sure has been awhile. I do remember most of you, however I'm not sure if you'd remember me.. I started out on Kahn when it initially came out, then migrated over to Kali for awhile. The Army has kept me away from gaming in general for quite a few years, but I just picked up a joystick and loaded Descent for the first time in years and boy does it feel great again!

Oh, and for those of you old-schoolers that have forgotten your kali serial (or are out-of-town alot and don't have access to kali itself), check out KWeb. If you use the chat client, you can only connect to the main descent server in #chat. Currently you cannot change channels either. Now, for those of you that forgot your serials, click on the Kali DB link and see if you're still listed. If you are, e-mail Jay Cotton (jay@kali.net) with the six numbers that show up there, and the original e-mail address you registered with (though if you don't remember, just give whatever info you remember that you filled out on the registration form) and he'll be glad to hook you up.

I wish Kali wasn't so dependent on ports so that I can use it behind a university firewall. >:(

Then you need to use a proxy don't you?

Duper wrote:Then you need to use a proxy don't you?
Most of them use packet filtering so I seriously doubt that would work.

I doubt it would work. I tried using a proxy for torrents.

Yeah.

I hadn't concidered what MD posted. Also, you need certain privilages on many networks anymore to set a proxy.

Whoa, just caught Znet's name in this thread. Wow, that brings back memories. Znet was probably my first descent friend, way back when I only had Kahn :)

Heh... saw you were logged in. My first thought was \"he's a couple days late for an April Fools joke.\"

My second thought was \"if anyone can pull off an April 5th April Fools joke, it's ZappaFan.\"

Good to see you around.

I give you Sirian's most memorable IRC moment:

<Sirian> I like some horse for a change, but I like fag more.
<Sirian> horde and flag. HORDE and FLLLLLLLLLLAG.

I fondly remember hanging out in Kali and IRC, wasting a semester of college, desperately trying to get people to play something other than Minerva2, wishing I had a less than 6 digit Kali number.

I ended up meeting a few people through Descent: Nirvana (thanks for not eating me!), Sekmu (thanks for D1X), and Spaz (who I miss a lot although he seems to be doing alright if the web is right).

I look behind me and see my SW3dpro sitting on a shelf gathering dust...

Greetings all!

Some of you I recall.. some I only recall your debris. Either way it's good to reconnect!

I appriciate all the work put into this board.. looks great! As soon as I locate a Sidewinder, loosen up the tendons, knock off the dust, I'll be ready to ..reclaim :)

As for the old school..? I was an architect on the 'old school'..
