I dont know about 'these days', but my favorite lvls from D1 were the lvls 1-7, the old demo lvls :)
We played them a lot in D2 as well (I converted them over).
D2 Minerva was fun.
D3 was all about apparition (best lvl), core, and half pipe.

D1's probably too tough a call for me, but from what I see of Descent 2, I might nominate these:

Minerva 3 (and 2 to a lesser extent now)
Neptune
Keg Party
Pulling Teeth
Dissent 2
D-Day '97

P.S. I'm nominating these because they're popular, not because I personally like them much (most I don't).

KB, are you looking for 1v1 or big anarchy levels (6-8 player) or what?

I personally think D2 is an inferior game, so I don't know much about those levels. But for D1, here are a few good ones:

big anarchy:
Minerva, Athena, NYSA, Vamped NYDP (mistyped as NYPD in the mission file somewhere), Manes level 2, kiln's fusion farm

1v1:
Anarctic, metaltech, black rose, wyndham v1.1, fuzed, ugh, io

unique / special:
3 sisters, halls of iconia, meganysa, oddering, tetrafusion

I'd say if you're putting together a pack of levels, you have to include two from Spaz (Athena and one other), two from Sirian (Black Rose and one other), one from Vader (Anarctic), and one from Tyranny (was metaltech his?). Fill it out with some super-classic levels and something unique that tickles your fancy.

Oh, and we have an \"old school\" forum for a reason ;)

Well, it's a new level, it's not too popular, it's a level of mine - but I found TombZ of DeZtruKtion to play amazingly well even with few players. It's rather large, so well suited for 8 players.
