Find a few D2 enthusiast playing pretty regularly in the this thread of the hard light productions forum (HLP revolves around the Descent Freespace series and maps and mods for these games). Looks like a nice community.

Just starting to wrap my brain around this possibility, so I haven't even had time to think it out yet, but... how feasible would it be to set up a dedicated D2X-XL server via Linux? Is that functionality that needs to be built in? Only possible with a completely separately-coded dedicated server binary? Diedel, you'd know better than anyone. =)

Yeah, I'd like to know as well. Is it even possible to use a tracker yet? If I learn how to set up a dedicated server for d2x-xl I will deffinately do it! (windows or linux)

It does support one guy starting a game, dying, and just staying there - but that's not really dedicated, especially since you lose a player slot.
