just wondering, i know that points are a competitive thing but do they contribute to the project at all?

i'm about to crack 30k myself but have only completed 156 wu's.

The more points a WU is worth, the more complex the molecule is, and the longer it takes to fold. In those terms, getting more points means that you're generating more raw data for the project.
