D2X-W32 readme

My reason would be this: every game, app and file includes one for those who want to read how it works and what commands the program accepts if and when they go offline.

You can vote whatever you want, the man page will be all I will do. ;)

How about "Would it be helpful if Diedel would include the readme.txt written by Ferno into the d2x-w32 distribution zip?"

Grendel, you have my vote for that!

Btw, there was a bug in D2X-W32 overwriting the hard-coded D1 weapon data ... if it still doesn't work for you, get v1.4.82 once its available.

As I already said in the Bug Reports and Suggestions thread: once I got the time (after November 6th) I'd be glad to make a keymap and I already thought about making a PDF manual. So if you want a manual and don't want to make one yourself, all you gotta do is wait a few weeks :)

yeah put a readme in the zip.........

Code: Select all

readme.txt

D2X-W32 Readme

Homepage : http://www.descent2.de

Updates : http://www.descent2.de/d2x.html

ENJOY

kind of ludicrous to put anything else in the readme until it is done and bloat the zip

Bad news: my HD had a head crash on Friday and since it's still under warranty I sent it in but I have to wait about 3 WEEKS!!! till I get my PC back. In the meantime I'm stuck with a C64 again. :P So I guess you'll have to wait a little longer for the D2X-W32 manual - maybe it becomes a X-mas present

Neumaennl,

If you still have warranty on your HD, imo its your good right to demand a new one right away!

I had the same once, and it was inacceptable for me to wait several weeks until I could use my computer again. After some discussion, I got a brand new HD right away.

Bubba,

now that's truly a readme I would actually include with the zip file! :)

the warranty of the PC runs out on Nov. 23rd and the call center guy gave me 2 options:
1. I coud send the HDD in and receive a new one right away
2. I could send the whole PC in, they'd check everything thoroughly and send it back to me fully functional.
I chose the 2nd option, but it takes longer
IMO it's the better deal coz if anything f*cks up on Nov. 24th I'd have to pay for it and therefore I let them check everything
(die machen auch Langzeit-Belastungstests wurde mir versprochen)

Yeah, maybe that's the better route (at least you cannot screw up mounting the new HD and losing the warranty because of it ... )
