Announcing the release of Into Cerberon version 003a, codenamed \"Quartzon\", a minor update to our previous 003 release. IC003a brings the following enhancements:
  • Updated codebase to Doom 3 patch 1.3.1. Now users of all four Doom 3 supported OS/architectures can play together: Windows x86, Linux x86, Mac x86, and Mac PowerPC!
  • New version of ic_mine fixes many sizing issues
  • Autocannon weapon pickup correctly gives 24 Autocannon ammo, instead of 24 minigun ammo
  • Corrected a couple of textures

Download Into Cerberon 003a today, and get your tri-chordin' on! Stay tuned for IC004 coming soon, with even more guns, maps, and gameplay features.

Note that IC003a requires Doom 3 patch 1.3.1, so be sure you have it installed before you try to play (the previous release, IC003, was for Doom 3 1.3), and have a look at the 003a Readme for installation & configuration details if you're stumped. If this is your first time visiting Into Cerberon, why not take a stroll through our image gallery to get a feel for the mod?

That is stunning.

Have you received any feedback from the Doom3 community? [edit: apparently so, I just saw the magazine pic...any threads to look at on Doom3 sites?]

Are all Descent weapons realized yet or still in production?
How much is Doom3? :)

Doom 3 brand new should be about $20 or so, even on Amazon it's pretty cheap compared to a new game. Used, you might pay even less.

The following weapons are in IC003A:
- Lasers (not upgradeable/quaddable yet)
- Minigun
- IC Autocannon (different from Descent AC)
- Plasma cannon
- Concussion Missiles (no pri/sec dual-weapon wielding yet)

IC004 will add:
- Upgradeable lasers (lvl1->lvl4, dual->quad)
- Spreadfire Cannon
- Mini-missile launcher (with pri/sec dual-weapon wielding)
- Ramming damage (smash into a guy, he takes damage)

The Doom 3 community is rather small, but response has been enthusiastic for IC due perhaps primarily to the fact that it isn't yet another shoot-aliens/demons-over-HERE-now mod.

It is great but for me playing with mouse only will be the doom of it.

Has this been tested with Linux Doom3? If not, would you guys like a alpha/beta tester? ;)

Check their site. IIRC, this does have a linux element.

IC has included Linux (and Mac) binaries and although we haven't explicitly tested them, I haven't heard any complaints so I have to assume they work (building the Linux .so is really not all that complicated).

As soon as I can snag a hold of a copy of Doom3 (I just recently even got a machine that could play it) I'll give it a shot.
