Macs and fps

Post by Fusion »

To any Mac Pilots out there-
I have an ATI Radeon 8500 64 ddr vid card. Mac OS 10.2.4 and 9.2.2
Is there a Mac program out there to determine what my FPS and or PPS is while in game? D3 doesn't have this option in the mac ver.

it does work

type:

FRAMETIME

when in game and look to the upper left corner. you may need to disable the ping/loss indicator to read the numbers clearly...

PPS is available from F6 - and "Netgame Info".

PPS is shown as X/Y where X is your current packet rate from the server and Y is the server setting. Remember, in Client-Server, the server will drop your packet rate if you get lossy.

To disable the ping/loss readout hit F6 and it's one of the many choices there.

hmmm, what could've went wrong?

Did you use "FRAMETIME" or "FRAMERATE"? You need to use the former... ah, and don't use caps.
also, don't press F8 before typing it, but do it during regular gameplay...

Even if I type that in, I have at least 2-3 actions that occur when I type your comand in regular game play even with no F8 or caps used.

Well right, what will happen is that on each keystroke, the corresponding actions will be executed. Might be able to get it working in observer mode and switch out if it bothers you, though I haven't tried this myself.

The special thing about the commands is that the specific sequence of keystrokes will perform some specific command (in addition to the requisite actions for each key).

Yes, and it doesn't matter if controls are triggered during the typing of FRAMETIME ("FRAMELENGTH" also works!) - it still activates the framerate display...

... but you probably aren't seeing it as it displays UNDERNEATH the Ping and Loss indicators. Switch those off using F6 to get a clear view of the FPS counter.

Typed in your command of framtime 2nite in a SOD while I was in limbo. The highest it said was 62.5 in the sod. Whether that's good in game flying Mac or not; SOD or no SOD; I have no clue.
but that is the answer it gave me. The Lowest I saw was somewhere in the 40's I think.

I'm sorry people, but I can't seem to read you latest input messages. My browser won't let me see any more posts.

the Framecap of 62.5 cannot be disabled on the Mac. In previous versions it was still possible, but somewhere along version 1.4 they prevented it.
