D3 launcher not responding during video detection

Post by Flatlander »

I'm trying to get D3 working on my sister's computer.

Specs:

P4 1.7
256MB RDRAM
GeForce 2Ti with latest drivers
Windows XP Pro SP1
DX9
admin login
Descent 3 Merc with 1.4 patch
Windows 98/ME compatibility mode

Setup detects everything else fine, but when I run the video detect, it stops responding and I have to close it with Task Manager. Any ideas?

Take off the 98/me comp mode and try again, you don't really need it.

Ya, disable compatibility mode, D3 runs native in XP. Tell it to only look for OpenGL, theres no need to search through D3D and Glide.

Thanks, but I've tried that (XP, compatibility mode and just one video mode at a time). Nevermind, she really just wants to play D1 anyhow.
