Workgroup or Homegroup?

Post by thewolfe »

Just got a new router and have to network my computers again. Workgroup or Homegroup? What say you?

Got'r working. It shows up under "Network" in Windows Explorer and not under a "Group".

The two concepts, while similarly named, are in fact not really related - you can be in both at the same time. Generally it's impossible for the machine not to be in a workgroup, even if it is the default.

Homegroups are just a way to make it easier to share files between computers - though they've never really improved anything for me due to the lack of control.
