Server Request - Someone Please Host Skybox :)

Post by WarAdvocat »

Could one of our gracious hosts please serve up my favorite "I'm too tired to think so I just wanna cause chaos and mayhem" level?

Spooty's skybox has gone to hell, his ISP is acting up, so this would just be an interim thing, until they straighten their BS out, but it would be muy appreciado by all of us addicts.

Server Name: Bunyip is a Noob

Requested Level: Skybox (not one of the imitators!)

Standard online settings, plus:

Players 4-6

Goal Limit: 100 kills

disallow: megas, any/all countermeasures, omegay

Respawn: 15

Thanks in advance Image

Why don't you use D3DSN or SOD to host it yourself?

SOD is unstable and after a while is invisible on PXO (the premier way to engage in Descent 3 games).

Dunno about the other one. Presumably it is 'ok', I'll have to try it..

And Merle, I don't think that two skybox servers is 'too many', especially given that both are unplayable for me (one because it's in holland, the other because the connect fluctuates between 90ms to 500 ms like a metronome, with loss spikes to keep things interesting)...

But I'm sure one of your l337-ness knows all.

Can anyone host this up for me PLEASE? Image

The "other one" is D3DSN: http://d3dsn.d3tl.org. If there's an Esa server on there, it's exactly like an Esa server. Just launch it on demand and it plays exactly the same. The server hosts choose to put their servers on D3DSN instead of operating them manually. That way you can play whatever you want whenever you want.

I renew my request: SOmeone PLEASE host a 5 man Skybox.

Suncho: This D3SDN seems like a good IDEA...But it ain't working for a number of reasons, including...there'r never any servers available.

D3DSN rocks, but has a few buglets remaining.

In the meantime, your 5-player skybox is up as WarAdvocat.Descent.cx.

Thanks Esa! It rocks... Nice, solid connection and no omegay...good honest chaotic slaughter with no bugs...what more could I ask?

There should be some reference to me (bunyip) being a noob in the MOTD or something...After all, Skybox is such teh newbie level Image
