"The West Wing" Presidential Debate

Post by Top Gun »

I'm really disappointed that I forgot about this and was only able to watch the second half. For those who didn't know about it, NBC's show "The West Wing" is in the middle of a presidential campaign to replace Martin Sheen's character. Tonight, they aired a live show in debate format between the two candidates (played by Alan Alda and Jimmy Smits). I usually don't watch this series, but this concept intrigued me, and from the half-hour I saw, it looked really well done. It was interesting hearing current political issues commented on in the context of a presidential debate when the next actual one won't be for three years. Anyone else see any of this?

I watched the entire show. I really enjoyed it. I just wish that our real Presidential candidates would debate like that. It would be refreshing to see.

I've watched the first 4 series on DVD - and I concur: if only the US political system was as good in real life as it is on the TV.

It's a great show, but a very long way away from reality: more's the pity.

I'm picking up series 5 and 6 tonight.
