Popping my TOP .....

Post by KoolBear »

I'm loosing it, this friggin host has suspended the DBB twice today for server overload, and one more time took and MOVED the FRIGGIN public_html directory under the .tmp directory so that we wouldn't be able to use the ★■◆●ing site!

GFDit! If I had the money I would work on the move tonight and not sleep till the site was moved! I'd tell them to shove that 36 friggin bucks so far up ..............................................

Top it off I remember some yahoo in a D3 game last night bitching at me and the poor ★■◆●ing hosting of the DBB, can you beleive that ★■◆●! ★■◆● with me in a ★■◆●ing game!

GFUCKING DAMN!
</end rant>

Thanks please continue on your way!

Bah, what the hell does that yahoo know anything about running a BB site? None.

Hang in there, and I wish you luck. As suggested in the other thread mher.org is a highly reccomended host.

I kinda think it's hopeless to run this site on a plan thats less then $20/mo minimum. KB, what is the current database size on the DBB?

I've noticed a long load time for the portal page.

maybe replacing that with something more static would cut down on the server load until we can move.

because, that page is making a lot of sql queries, and im wonder if its the sql server thats overloading.

I wonder how many people really visit the portal page though.

I will remove it temp and later I will cut down some of the calls to mysql.

I bet if we have 4 or more people accessing the pages and say there
s no response but they leave thier browser trying to access that page that would also create a problem.

You dont think this board would run nicely on a $15/month mher.org account?

All,
I have contacted Mher.com, I am also in contact with CCB he has offered a server for the DBB to reside in, also Diedel has offered a server located in Germany for the DBB.

I will do more research tonight after I get my kids to bed. And post an update later.

KB, don't keep the problems with the host to yourself. i don't know when slodowns happen if it's my isp or my box or the dbb.

KB, set up a donation link to paypal. post notice of it's existence then see what comes in.

i'll kick in a large part of your exp. so far and some for moving to new host if you will accept some $ assistance. time is money, i'd rather pay and not wait. :)

The database is only 150 MB? lol thats nothing. KB, try it on mher, the $5/mo account, it's got 2 GB storage and 50 GB/mo transfer, then just watch the bandwidth use and see if you need to upgrade it to the $15/mo 300 GB/mo transfer account. I would be pretty surprised if the all text DBB used more then that.

I just received this from mher
Hello,

We host less than 500 accounts per server. However; we are not accepting new
orders for this month.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Mher.org Support
My concerns is the DBB is on a server that has less than 400 users :)

So looking at those stats, for a busy month (say march 2005) the DBB used a little over 9 GB transfer. I have used 10 times that on my home DSL in two weeks, we can definitely find better hosting for the DBB then this. It would be nice if mher was taking new orders right now though. :P

Am I doing the math right here? The heaviest month was March with 9534659 KBytes. So:

9534659/1048576= 9.1Gigs, right?

http://www.radiusco.com/

Might wand to consider them Mike. I know the guy that runs the place. This company also hosts Firstones.com (HUGE Babylon5 site) and has let the owner run the site even though he was WAY behind on payments. Plus, its being run not too far from you. :)
